Armed Utility Officers

Role: An Armed Utility Officer plays a critical role in maintaining a safe environment for clients, employees, and visitors by enforcing security procedures and responding to potential threats. This position requires carrying a firearm and using sound judgment in high-pressure situations. Officers patrol assigned areas, monitor surveillance systems, control access points, and respond to emergencies such as alarms or incidents. They maintain accurate records, coordinate with law enforcement when necessary, and provide courteous service while maintaining a strong and visible security presence. To qualify, officers must be licensed, trained in firearm safety, and adhere to all applicable laws and regulations.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Armed security officer (must pass Armed training, have valid pistol permit).
  • TWIC Card preferred.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work Weekends (Saturday and Sunday), if needed.
  • A curious nature that helps you to remain aware of the activities around you.
  • The ability to remain calm, solve problems, and act effectively in a critical situation.
  • Conduct regular walking patrols to improve the safety of individuals and proactively identify and report security concerns.
  • Monitor facility access points, employing verification procedures to authenticate the identification and credentials of individuals entering or exiting premises, in support of a secure environment.
  • Maintain precise and detailed logs documenting activities, incidents, and notable observations, facilitating comprehensive reporting and analysis for enhanced security measures.
  • Must have basic computer experience and the ability to use a tablet to conduct security reports.
  • Enforce security procedures in the relevant Security Post Instruction.
  • Execute routine tasks with proficiency, such as securely locking and unlocking doors, activating, and deactivating security systems, and diligently monitoring surveillance feeds for signs of potential threats or breaches.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms, emergencies, and other incidents, utilizing appropriate actions and established protocols.
  • Always look professional in a clean and pressed uniform.
  • Informs and ensures compliance of SEI and Clients policies, such as smoking, loitering, parking violations, etc.

Required Skills & Abilities:

Minimum:

  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and potentially stressful work environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Minimum Physical Requirements With or Without reasonable accommodation (subject to change based on client-specific needs):

  • Stand and sit for long periods of time
  • Walk a minimum of ½ mile without stopping
  • Climb a minimum of 20 common commercial facility stairs without stopping

Education & Experience:

Minimum:

Education: HS Diploma or equivalent

Experience: 1+ Years verifiable Armed Security, Corrections, Law Enforcement or Military experience.

Preferred:

Experience: 3+ Years verifiable Armed Security, Corrections, Law Enforcement or Military experience.
