Job description

Security Officer
  • No prior experience is required.
    • Military veterans and people with security, firefighting, department of corrections, or law enforcement experience are encouraged to apply.
  • Shift Opening(s): Thursday - Saturday / All Shifts
  • Rate of Pay: $17
    • This is a part-time position. However, having flexible availability might occasionally allow up to a 39 hour per week schedule.
    • This is NOT an armed security position. Weapons are not permitted on the premises, including in personal vehicles parked on the premises.
  • About the Job: As a Security Officer at DK Security, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of our clients' properties. Your duties will vary depending on the specific contract, offering a diverse and challenging work environment. Security officer duties include the following:
    • Customer Service: Be a positive reflection of the company and yourself by assisting client staff, visitors, and coworkers, and maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.
    • Observe and Report: Stay alert and be on the lookout for any suspicious activities and incidents.
    • Security Presence: Maintain a professional appearance and stand guard in and around building lobbies, reception areas, control centers, etc.
    • Security Officer: Conduct foot and/or vehicle patrols of your assigned areas performing security officer duties as required.
    • Access Control: Ensure unauthorized persons do not enter restricted areas, check employee and vendor IDs, and follow proper access procedures.
    • Safety Patrol: Ensure a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors, enforcing the policies and procedures of the assigned location and reporting any safety concerns.
    • Emergency Response: Be ready and able to assist in emergencies, including the administering of CPR/First Aid/AED care and communicating with emergency personnel using the proper protocols.
    • Security Liaison: Maintain professional communication with the client staff, follow through with client requests, and keep the site supervisor/operations manager updated on all client communications.
    • Other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum qualifications:
    • Must be at least 18 years old and have at least a high school diploma or equivalent education certification, such as a GED, per MCL 338.1067 §17(2). (Must also be at least 21 years old and be a Michigan CPL or LEOSA cardholder to perform armed security work).
    • Must be able to pass a drug screening at the time of hire and randomly thereafter (including for marijuana). Since our company contracts with the federal government, we must comply to federal laws regarding the use of marijuana, regardless of whether it is used recreationally or medicinally.
    • Must not have been convicted of any felonies, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
    • Must not have been convicted of any misdemeanors related to dishonesty, fraud, impersonation of law enforcement, assault, weapons, unauthorized sale of information or evidence, controlled substances (including for marijuana), or two or more alcohol related offenses, per MCL 338.1060 §10(1)(c).
    • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk, including up and down stairs, for 8-12 hours at a time.
    • Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs. (Must be able to lift at least 70 lbs. for armed work).
    • Must be CPR, First Aid, and AED certified (Child, Infant, and Adult), or willing to become certified and be physically capable of administering lifesaving care when needed.
    • Must be able to see clearly at least 20 feet away (assisted with glasses or contact lenses if necessary).
    • Must be able to hear conversations in loud environments either in-person or via radio.
    • Must be able to use a smart mobile phone or computer to check emails and complete online training.
    • Must be able to fluently read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
    • Must be professional and possess excellent customer service skills.
    • Must have excellent personal integrity and a positive attitude.
    • Must complete required trainings on time and adhere to all client and company policies
