What does a security operations manager do?
As a security operations manager, you develop and implement strategies to help protect the assets of your company. As part of your duties, you may determine the best protocol for each situation, manage the hiring and training process for other security personnel, and otherwise oversee daily security needs. Many details of this job depend on the security threats your employer faces. For example, retail stores frequently face problems with theft while research companies may be more concerned with the safety of digitally-archived information. Many security operations managers focus on physical threats and collaborate with systems administrators and other computer-focused personnel to secure digital assets.

Job description
Why you'll love Softchoice:
We are a software-focused IT solutions and services provider that equips organizations to be agile and innovative, and for their people to be engaged, connected, and creative at work. That means moving them to the cloud, helping them build the workplace of tomorrow, and enabling them to make smarter decisions about their technology. By doing these things we help them create success for their customers and their people.
We stand proudly for our people and support their success through career development and advancement. We are recognized and respected for our culture of inclusion and belonging, continuously striving to do what's good for our people and communities.Â
Â
The impact you will have:
Become the go-to expert in strategic security solutions for our clients and our sales force.
Clients need our help. Their security posture cannot keep up with the pace of change their internal and external stakeholders demand - and you can solve those issues for them. As a Security Solutions Architect, you will design comprehensive security solutions that span on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments, helping customers address complex challenges across device, identity, data protection, threat management, and compliance.
You will collaborate closely with customers to understand their business objectives and security requirements, translating these into robust technical architectures and solution roadmaps. You will also define and scope the services required to implement these solutions, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards.
As a key technical leader, you will provide guidance throughout the sales cycle, including presenting solutions to stakeholders, supporting proof-of-concept efforts, and transitioning solution designs to engineering and delivery teams for implementation. Your role will be pivotal in creating customer roadmaps that drive security platform adoption, supported by complementary professional and managed services.
In this role you will:
- Bridge the gap between sales and security strategy by acting as a trusted advisor to both internal teams and customers. You'll share current insights on cybersecurity trends, threat landscapes, and advancements in security technologies, and lead security assessments and executive briefings - from C-level stakeholders to technical teams - translating complex concepts into clear, actionable business language.
- Challenge and elevate customer thinking by leveraging your deep security expertise to help customers understand what it takes to build a resilient, compliant, and scalable security posture. You'll confidently challenge assumptions with well-researched, tailored insights, showcasing innovative approaches to risk mitigation, threat detection, and secure digital transformation.
- Drive business impact by increasing revenue and gross profit across security products and services - including identity and access management, threat protection, network and data security, and security operations. You'll provide program, pricing, product, and promotion expertise to support the sales organization, ensuring alignment with customer needs and industry best practices.
Who you will be working with:
- All Softchoice customers, from small to large
- Sales Account Executives who own the customer relationship
- Security Sales Executives accountable for driving sales around security products and services
- Solutions architecture and services delivery teams who partner with you on holistic solution design and customer adoption
What you will do:
- Partner with Sales Account Executives and Security Sales Executives to engage customers directly, early in the sales cycle, where they need to modernize their security posture across all pillars of security.
- Lead and execute Security Platform Assessments through data collection, review, and roadmap creation of the right product and services solution for the customer.
- Collaborate with customers to understand their business needs and technical requirements and help them choose the right platform and complementary security solutions to reduce risk and improve their posture.
- Design and develop modern, holistic security solutions tailored to customer requirements and create detailed technical documentation and solution blueprints.
- Scope and define the services required for deploying security solutions, ensuring solutions combine technology with the implementation and deployment services that support customer adoption.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance during the pre-implementation phase, ensuring the services delivery team is fully briefed on expected project outcomes.
- Participate in assessments and audits of existing security architectures to ensure your designs meet customer needs.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.
- Create awareness of strategic security solutions within sales teams and enable them through education on security concepts.
- Deliver high-quality customer support while meeting service-level objectives around responsiveness.
- Drive business results through increased attach rates, complete solution design, and services selling.
- Stay current with the latest security technologies and industry trends and maintain relevant technical certifications in your focused specialization areas.
- Collaborate with OEM partner field sales and solution architecture teams in co-selling motions.
What you bring to the table:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in selling, architecting, and/or implementing security solutions, including pre-sales support in business-to-business scenarios.
- Fully bilingual in English & French, both spoken and written.
- Extensive experience with device, identity, network, data, and cloud security technologies and solutions.
- Strong understanding of security solution design, security platforms, and defense-in-depth principles and best practices.
- Proven track record of designing and implementing security solutions for diverse customer environments.
- Experience working with both technical resources and business leaders to establish trust and credibility across an organization.
- Ability to embrace both the technical and business development responsibilities of the role, and to identify process improvements that help everyone work more efficiently.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a high level of commitment to exceptional customer service.
- Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with colleagues and customers, and to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
- A learner's mindset - always curious about new technologies and how they impact our customers' business.
- Experience working with a technology reseller or manufacturer is preferred.
- Technical security certifications strongly preferred (e.g., CISSP, CISM, Security+, CEH). If you are not currently certified, you are committed to achieving and maintaining relevant certifications as they evolve. Please include a list of current and previously held certifications with your application.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- University degree or college diploma preferred - or equivalent experience.
Compensation:
A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position in Canada is $94,200 to $125,600 annually + 20% as target incentives.Â
