Public Safety - Switchboard/Dispatch Operator ย  Responsibilities ย  Responsible to the Dispatch Coordinator to perform dispatch and switchboard duties during normal business hours. Insures that all calls are answered forwarded to the proper individual, office or department . ย  Duties ย  1.ย  Answers and monitors all Switchboard calls, assists callers with directory information,. ย  2.ย  Assists in transfer of calls and inform callers concerning proper procedures for making long distance and collect calls from campus telephones. ย  3.ย  Be familiar and adhere to the policies and procedures found in the Dispatch/Switchboard Manual. Be familiar with resources available: directories, equipment, logs etc. ย  4.ย  Be familiar with College structure, staff and organizations within as well as their functions. Be aware of campus events and conference groups to assist callers. ย  5.ย  Be prepared to acknowledge and forward incoming severe weather reports and Homeland Security Advisories. ย  6.ย  Answer Work Order Center calls during certain designated times make notifications to Officers and tradesmen as instructed. ย  7.ย  Make contacts as requested by Public Safety Officers (students, faculty, workmen, Snow Crew, Resident Directors, Police Department, etc. ย  8.ย  Provides back up for the Public Safety Dispatcher and data entry for access control. Answer Public Safety telephone lines promptly, responding appropriately by providing information or initiating response from officer(s). ย  9.ย  Issue and replace ID/access control cards for students and employees under the direction of the Office/Dispatch Coordinator. ย  10.ย  Perform other duties as assigned. ย  ย  Qualifications ย  1.ย  Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to articulate and convey information in a clear concise manner in the English language. ย  2.ย  Ability to organize information and files. ย  3.ย  One year of related experience and/or training. ย  4.ย  Computer literate with the ability to quickly learn an Automated Records management system (computer aided dispatch program). ย  ย
