Job description

BSG is currently seeking to hire a full-time Vehicle Patrol Security Officer in Marin County. This officer will provide safety and security by performing extensive patrols (by vehicle and foot) in a professional manner for our commercial and residential properties. Patrol Security Officers operate both independently and as part of a team to deliver exceptional service and support to our clients. They conduct multiple, randomly timed stops during each patrol period to perform thorough checks of all assigned properties.

  • Shifts: Full-Time Grave / 10pm - 6:30pm (Weekend availability required).
  • Hourly rate: Starts at $25.00.  After successful completion of your introductory period this position goes to $26.50 per hour.

 Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possess a current California Guard Card License.
  • A valid Driver's License and a clean driving record for 3 years is required for Vehicle Patrol. 
  • Reliable transportation is necessary.
  • Proficient in basic computer and smartphone usage.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write in English to create accurate reports; additional language skills are a plus.
  • Strong listening skills, patience, and compassion, particularly when interacting with community members experiencing emotional or psychological challenges.
  • Ability to remain calm in crisis situations, think critically, de-escalate conflicts, and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize with strong time management skills. 
  • Maintain a positive, professional demeanor in adherence to all laws, regulations, company policies, and confidentiality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with both company and client policies and procedures while being open to performance improvement.
  • Possess a clear understanding of emergency response procedures and protocols.
  • At least one year of experience in security, mobile patrol, or event staff roles.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
  • Desire to pursue a police academy, law enforcement, or criminal justice career encouraged. 
  • Permit for an exposed firearm is a plus.

Vehicle Patrol Officer specific duties include:

  • Respond to triggered alarms, distress calls, or calls for service.
  • Issue, log, and track parking violations; execute towing policies.
  • Generate awareness among communities.
  • Search properties for unwanted trespassers or suspicious persons.
  • Report emergency incidents to first responder agencies.
  • Investigate any potential safety issues or vandalism.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement and first responder. agencies while reporting emergency incidents.

Physical Requirements:

This role requires specific physical abilities to ensure the Security Guard can effectively perform essential job duties. The candidate must be able to:

  • Stand, Walk and Sit for Extended Periods: Ability to sit while driving a vehicle, stand or walk for long periods, often for several hours at a time, including traversing outdoor areas with uneven surfaces, without significant physical strain. 
  • Climb Stairs: Regularly climb stairs and navigate multi-level buildings to perform patrols and check all areas.
  • Lift and Carry: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to move or secure equipment and assist with other duties as necessary.
  • Physical Endurance: Ability to withstand various weather conditions during outdoor patrols, including hot, cold, rainy, or windy weather.
  • Manual Dexterity: Ability to handle and operate security equipment, such as radios, keys, and locks.
  • Run or Move Quickly: Ability to sprint short distances if needed to respond quickly to emergencies or incidents.
  • Physical Stamina: Capable of working long hours while remaining alert and focused throughout the shift. De-escalate stressful situations with professionalism and patience.  
  • Kneeling and Bending: Ability to kneel, crouch, and bend to check low-level areas, secure entrances, or assist in emergencies.
  • Vision and Hearing: Strong vision and hearing to observe surroundings, monitor security systems, and detect alarms or sounds of distress.
