Job description

Job Summary
The Security Specialist is responsible for performing security and safety functions within a cannabis cultivation facility. As a Security Specialist, you are responsible for providing critical security and administrative support to management. Security Specialists may be cross-trained and asked to support other departments occasionally to meet business needs.
This is a full-time position at $20/hr (third shift 11p-7:30a T-Sa)
** Must have valid SORA license
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Check in all employees, visitors, vendors, and deliveries.
  • Ensure all visitors, vendors, and delivery drivers sign in on the sign-in sheet.
  • Scan IDs and provide temporary badges to visitors, vendors, and delivery drivers.
  • Maintain all hard copy and digital logs of scanned IDs, sign-in sheets, and all facility logs.
  • Provide general support to visitors, vendors, and delivery drivers.
  • Review surveillance video of events and create/maintain event logs from all security systems.
  • Create new badge access cards for new employees, visitors, and vendors.
  • Alert management for required support on all security systems-skyline cameras, Strat security/fire alarms, and internet connectivity.
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and outgoing office shipments with management.
  • Monitor and maintain quality control measures in accordance with state and local laws.
  • Adhere to company policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment within the facility and production areas.
  • Immediately inform the Security Manager of any system discrepancies.
  • Document all activity using the company's track and trace system.
  • Work within company continuous improvement system and strive to increase productivity.
  • Check in and check out all van keys for drivers.
  • Give all cash to Human Resources or appropriate party for accounting.
  • Schedule weekly armored vehicle pickups for cash deposits from order fulfillment.
  • Ensure the door is locked during any time cash is out.
  • Coordinate with corporate's finance department to ensure all cash is accounted for.
  • Accept cash from all delivery drivers on every delivery and store in safe.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 1-3 years' experience in a related position.
  • Previous experience in security operations and procedures required.
  • Must have a positive attitude and work well with others in a team environment.
  • Willing to learn about, operate, and maintain facility equipment in a safe manner.
  • Able to stand for at least 6 hours per day and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older and able to successfully register with the state's cannabis commission as an agent.
  • Must comply with all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.

Physical and Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to remain in a stationary position, move and/or position oneself, communicate, operate and/or prepare, place, position objects, tools, or controls. The employee must occasionally move packages weighing up to 25 lb. Able to stand for 90% of the time. Comfortable with heights, occasionally ascends/descends a ladder to service the lights, filters, trellis netting and ceiling fans up to 25ft. Comfortable working atop and traversing scaffolding, when required. Comfortable with changing environment temperatures and humidity. Exposure to pollen, dust, dander, and other nature elements. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close observation and the ability to adjust focus. The mental and physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an individual, with or without reasonable accommodation, to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.

Work is performed in a warehouse environment. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and the risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
