College/Department Information
The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center is the single largest investment in a cybersecurity facility in the nation to date. The $100 million facility will help to fill the current and growing shortage of cybersecurity talent in the state and nation. The Georgia Cyber Innovation and Training Center represents a unique public/private partnership that includes Augusta University, Augusta Technical College, the University System of Georgia's research institutions, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and other state, federal, and private-sector partners working together to meet this workforce demand and to innovate, train, and strengthen defenses.
The state-of-the-art Center is located in the growing cybersecurity corridor in Augusta, Georgia, that is also home to the U.S. Army Cyber Command and Cyber School of Excellence at Fort Gordon. The Center is located on the downtown campus of Augusta University and houses the School of Computer and Cyber Sciences.
Job Summary
The GCITC Intern 1 will be shadowing the GCITC IT Team to learn about workstation management, AV (audio/visual) support, and networking. Emphasis will be placed on understanding the tools and devices used in these areas and applying critical thinking as to why and how these tools and devices are used.
Responsibilities
The duties include, but are not limited to:
TROUBLESHOOTING AND SUPPORT:
  • Troubleshooting and Support
  • Networking Support
  • Observe how to provide troubleshooting and support to address software and hardware issues that appear in modern computing on a regular basis, including those related to internet and network connectivity for PCs, Macs, mobile devices, and peripherals
  • Develop proficiency in using workstation management tools and understanding network infrastructure AV (Audio/Visual) Support
  • Assist GCITC team members with providing support for multimedia, sound system projectors, TVs, and visitor management system
  • Assist with providing support during events and meetings requiring use of AV equipment
  • Become familiar with troubleshooting and support Crestron programming PC Support
  • Learn how to provide ticket-based customer support and/or remediation
  • Assist GCITC team members with conducting device deployment
  • Become familiar with remote Endpoint device management software updates

CONSULTING AND TRAINING:
  • Consulting and Training
  • Learn how to provide consultation and individualized training for customer use of enterprise technologies, including hardware, software, and web applications.

DOCUMENTATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF SUPPORT MATERIALS:
  • Ensure accurate documentation by creating, maintaining, and completing service requests in an incident management system
  • Implement and monitor standards and procedures
  • Learn how to facilitate data backup and recovery

COMMUNICATION:
  • Learn techniques from GCITC IT team members on communicating accurately and timely with clients to address and resolve outstanding issues

OTHER: Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma, GED, or equivalent from a recognized State or Federal accrediting organization.

E nrolled in an Associate or Bachelor's degree program at an accredited college or university and majoring in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or related field of study and be within two to four years from anticipated graduation date.

Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
