Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Security Integration Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing, programming, troubleshooting, and servicing electronic security and low-voltage systems.

This position will work directly with customers, general contractors, project managers, and other trades to ensure security systems are installed and operating properly, safely, and according to project specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, service, and troubleshoot electronic security systems.
  • Install and terminate low-voltage cabling, including Cat5e/Cat6, fiber, and other communications cabling.
  • Install and service:
    • Access control systems
    • Video surveillance/CCTV and IP cameras
    • Intrusion alarm systems
    • Intercom and video intercom systems
    • Network equipment and security-related devices
    • Structured cabling and related low-voltage equipment
  • Program and configure security system hardware and software.
  • Perform system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Diagnose hardware, wiring, networking, and communication issues.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and system drawings.
  • Maintain accurate service reports, installation documentation, and system records.
  • Communicate professionally with customers and provide basic system training when required.
  • Coordinate with project managers and other technicians to complete projects on schedule.
  • Maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and inventory.
  • Follow all company safety policies and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Participate in after-hours or emergency service when required.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in security integration, low-voltage electrical work, telecommunications, networking, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience with access control, CCTV/video surveillance, and/or intrusion systems.
  • Basic understanding of TCP/IP networking, IP addresses, switches, routers, and PoE.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and computer-based programming software.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, floor plans, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Professional appearance and strong customer-service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to pass any required background checks or site-specific requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Manufacturer certifications or experience with major security platforms.
  • Experience with enterprise access control and video management systems.
  • Experience configuring networked security devices.
  • Experience with door hardware, electric strikes, magnetic locks, request-to-exit devices, and door position switches.
  • Experience with intrusion alarm panels and associated peripherals.
  • Experience with intercom systems and gate operators.
  • Knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and applicable local codes.
  • Previous commercial security integration experience.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work from lifts when required.
  • Ability to work in mechanical rooms, ceilings, attics, crawl spaces, and other job-site environments.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work overhead for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
