Overview

Goldbelt Security's Alaska Operations provides services throughout Alaska that include intermittent security needs. Goldbelt Security (AK Ops) is separate arm of the Goldbelt Security, LLC, operating out of Juneau and reporting to the VP of Alaska Operations.

Summary:

The Security Guard is responsible for protecting personnel, property, and assets at assigned locations. This role is structured across three levels-Security Guard I, II, and III-to reflect increasing responsibility, independence, and leadership. Security Guards perform patrols, monitor access, respond to incidents, and ensure compliance with safety and security protocols.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions:

All Security Guard may be responsible for the following, with duties expanding by level:

  • Monitor and control access to assigned areas; verify identification and credentials
  • Conduct visual inspections of bags and personal belongings for prohibited items
  • Complete visitor and contractor check-ins and escort coordination
  • Perform foot patrols to monitor and secure facilities
  • Observe and report suspicious behavior, safety issues, or policy violations
  • Respond to incidents and assist in maintaining order during emergencies
  • Complete logs and incident reports accurately and promptly
  • Provide directions and general assistance to visitors and staff
  • Utilize computer systems for reporting, timekeeping, and documentation.
  • Support enforcement of site-specific safety, environmental, and security policies
  • Assist in training and mentoring junior guards as needed
  • Coordinate with supervisors and management on security planning and shift operations
  • Conduct site audits and recommend improvements to security procedures
  • Represent the security team in client meetings and assist with scheduling and shift assignments
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Ability to follow instructions and remain calm under pressure

  • Knowledge of security and safety practices appropriate to the level

  • Proficiency in report writing and use of computer applications

  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and situational awareness

  • Ability to observe, document, and respond to incidents appropriately

  • Leadership and coordination skills (for higher levels)

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Must be at least 21 years of age

  • Ability to obtain AK Security Guard license

  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening

  • A valid driver's license and with a clean record

  • Obtain CPR and First Aid certification within 3 months of hire

  • Sergeant Level I:

  • At least 6 months of experience in customer service or public interaction

  • Sergeant Level II:

  • At least 12 months experience as a licensed security guard

  • Experience in safety/security environments (e.g., military, law enforcement)

  • Sergeant Level III:

  • At least 2+ years of progressive security experience

  • Experience in safety/security environments (e.g., military, law enforcement)

  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff

  • Military service in a related field may substitute for required experience on a year-for-year basis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service

  • Familiarity with industrial, mining, or remote operational environments

  • Training in defensive tactics, de-escalation, or emergency response
