Description:

The Rescue Mission is looking for full-time assistance with our Safety & Security team at the Village of Hope.

The Overnight Safety & Security Specialist is responsible for answering the front desk phone, greeting visitors, checking students in and out, and handling all tasks related to the front desk, including nightly patrols and monitoring of security camera activity.


The schedule is Friday and Saturday, Overnights from 10:00pm-2:30am.


Essential Job Duties:

  1. Greet all students, visitors, volunteers, donors, vendors, and potential intakes and provide helpful information.
  2. Answer incoming calls from various sources. Transfer calls to the appropriate individual or departmental voicemails.

3. Secure doors and monitor access to the Village of Hope campus for authorized personnel by maintaining accurate entrance and exit procedures.

4. Maintain strict control of all keys and access badges, logging them out appropriately and complying with access privileges. Doing nightly key and badge audits.

5. Follow emergency procedures, including those involving medical requests, 911 calls, emergency exits, and alarms.

6. Visually monitor security cameras; report any suspicious activity to emergency personnel, security department, or the on-duty case manager or other appropriate staff member.

7. Support the safety and security team, and case management with the communication of student activities and concerns, notifying the appropriate staff members to resolve any conflicts, if needed.

8. Maintain daily activity and incident logs.

9. Conduct nightly patrols on and around the Village of Hope campus and parking lot, locking down the campus, inspecting for security issues, and reporting any safety issues or suspicious activity.

10. Responding to, communicating, following up, and providing updates on all incidents as they occur, and completing Incident Reports when needed.

11. Completing monthly safety audits such as fire extinguishers and eye wash stations.


Key Performance Indicators: Successful communication, knowledge and adherence to policies and procedures with accuracy. Able to act professionally and think promptly in an emergency or crises situation; able to learn and consistently use communication equipment.

Requirements:

Job Requirements

Education: High School Diploma

Experience: 1 year of job related work experience.

Communication Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Math Skills: Minimum Skills: Ability to add and subtract and to multiply and divide.

Reasoning: Basic Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables and standardized situations.

Job Related Certifications / Licensing / Professional Registry or Memberships Requirements:

First Aid, CPR, & AED Certification, and California Security Guard Card preferred.

Driving Requirements: NOT required to drive on behalf of Company.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A personal relationship with Jesus, good working knowledge of the Bible, signed acknowledgment of the Statement of Faith.
  • High School Diploma or Certification to prove education equivalency.
  • 6 months of security experience. Experience working in social services, ministry or counseling is preferable but not required.
  • The ability to act professionally and think promptly in an emergency or crisis situation.
  • The ability to work with adults and children in crisis situations and recognize and maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Detail oriented with organization and administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Outlook, MSWord)
  • Ability to learn and consistently use communication equipment (paging, radio/walkie-talkie)
  • Be dependable, trustworthy and have a good attitude with coworkers and students.
