Job description

Job Title: Security Installation Technician (Level 2)Job Description

This role focuses on installing, wiring, and supporting security camera and access control systems in a data center environment. The Security Installation Technician (Level 2) works on low-voltage installations, including access control hardware and CCTV equipment, and supports system testing, documentation, and adherence to safety standards while collaborating closely with a lead technician or supervisor.

Responsibilities
  • Install and wire access control and security camera components, including card readers, magnetic locks, door strikes, and controllers.
  • Pull and terminate low-voltage cables such as CAT5/6, including RJ45 terminations, ensuring clean and reliable connections.
  • Label devices and cables accurately and mount all hardware neatly and correctly according to project standards.
  • Assist with system testing and verification under the guidance and supervision of a lead technician or supervisor.
  • Document daily work activities, materials used, and job site conditions in a clear and organized manner.
  • Follow all company safety standards and procedures, including safe use of tools and materials, and maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Communicate progress, issues, and challenges clearly and promptly to the lead technician or supervisor.
  • Interpret and follow basic wiring diagrams and installation instructions to complete tasks accurately.
  • Support general construction and conduit-related tasks as needed for low-voltage installations.
Essential Skills
  • 2–3 years of experience in low-voltage, electrical, access control, and CCTV/security camera installation work.
  • Hands-on experience installing security cameras and access control devices such as card readers, maglocks, strikes, and controllers.
  • Proficiency pulling wire and terminating CAT5/6 cables, including RJ45 terminations.
  • Understanding of wiring practices, power supplies, and low-voltage systems.
  • Ability to read and follow basic wiring diagrams and written instructions.
  • Demonstrated strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail in installation work.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • OSHA 10 certification required at the time of starting the role.
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug test.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience working as a Level 2 Technician or equivalent role in low-voltage or security system installation.
  • Familiarity with conduit work and construction environments related to low-voltage installations.
  • Experience working with access control systems and CCTV/security camera systems in data center or similar critical environments.
  • Strong communication skills to report progress and issues to supervisors and team members.
  • High level of organization for documenting work, materials, and job site conditions.
