Job description

Summary:

Provides a safe and secure environment for patients, visitors and employees within the facility and on the property. Assists the medical staff to control patient and visitor behavior, and protects the hospital's assets.

Responsibilities:

1. Oversees patients considered at risk. performs safety intake of close supervision watch Emergency Depart. Patients. Searches patients and their property for injurious items.
2. Monitors, observes, documents for medical records and ED &/or Crisis Intervenetion or Nurse/Clinician. Applies restraints, monitors and documents combative patients safety while in restraints.
3. Performs range-of-motion checks on restrained patients. Communicates to Nursing/Clinical staff changes in patients condition.
4. Assesses the security of hospital property through designated rounds.
5. Investigates lost, stolen, or damaged property.
6. Investigates injuries, assaults, and other incidents with patients, staff, & visitors.
7. Responds to various emergency situations throughout the hospital.
8. Interacts with and provides information to various law enforcement agencies.
9. Monitors and responds to alarms designed to protect person & property.
10. Controls patient and visitor behavior that is deemed unacceptable.
11. Operates specialized equipment (cameras, radios, etc...) through routine performance of duties.
12. Fulfills all compliance responsibilities related to the position.

13.  Morgue services (including admits and releases).

14. Performs other duties as assigned.

Education Skills Experience:

HS GRAD/EQUIVALENT

Other Information:

Required: Thorough knowledge of protocols established for specific emergency situations.
Minimum Experience: zero to six months
Desired: Criminal justice or related field coursework preferred.
