Job description

As the Training Lead supporting a national security program space warfighting mission, you will be responsible for improving and maintaining a robust training program designed to equip all assigned personnel with the knowledge and system skills necessary to win in a contested space environment. As a senior training team member filling a key position, a successful candidate will lead training program development and documentation efforts and deliver strong foundational space domain awareness (SDA) system & mission knowledge to enable our warfighters and protect national space assets. In a dynamic and increasingly active space environment the Training Lead will be at the forefront of learning the latest developing system capabilities and responsible for integrating that knowledge into new tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) for operational checklist and training materials changes. This is subject matter expert (SME)-level position requiring expert skills in both formal classroom instruction and hand-on system training.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise 3-4 training team members working across geographically separated operations centers while delivering quality training products to government customer
  • Schedule, lead formal classroom instruction for all organizational divisions
  • Lead training meetings, attend ops update briefings, exercise, strategic planning meetings, and tool demonstrations, sharing SME knowledge & system expertise
  • Offer ad hoc and supplemental hands-on system training for operators upon request
  • Author training documentation and builds visual aids with step-by-step instructions, capturing system screenshots with supporting annotations using standard office software tools (i.e. MS Word, PowerPoint, Adobe PDF etc.)
  • Familiarize self and training team members with developing system tools, updates relevant job aids, checklists and training reference material
  • Assist in system integration and development efforts as SME and user resource
  • Practice operational risk-management; recognizes system limitations and vulnerabilities, and/or procedural and training deficits posing risk to mission success
  • Maintain system proficiency (i.e., Systems Tool Kit (STK) and other software)
  • Work full-time on-site at a government facility in Springfield, VA (*some travel, up to 15%, is necessary to meet training and mission requirements)

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 12+ years' space operations and/or space intelligence experience with bachelor's degree; 14 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree; 11+ years relevant experience with master's degree in related technical or teaching fields
  • 3+ years' space operations and/or experience using NRO on-orbit space systems tools (i.e., ASW, SuperCombo) tools, STK or similar orbital visualization propagators and threat determination analysis tools
  • 3+ years' Training Manager or related space system tools instructing experience
  • Excellent oral & written communication skills
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with adjudicated CI Poly

PREFERRED:

  • SME-level knowledge of foreign/domestic space & ground system threat capabilities
  • Prior supervisor/managerial or operations task/project team lead experience
  • Prior experience with Air Force/Space Force training records and positional task lists
  • Orbital Analyst schooling (i.e. Space 100, 200, 300, Advance Orbital Mechanics, Orbital Analyst Training Course or similar)
  • Advanced proficiency in MS word and PowerPoint
  • Superior oral & written communication skills, experience interacting with military and civilian leaders

SECURITY CLEARANCE:

This position requires current eligibility for a TS/SCI clearance.
