You'll help transform how FortiGate and Palo Alto environments are managed at scale while building next-generation capabilities that reduce manual effort and improve operational performance.

As a Senior Security Platform AI Automation Engineer, you will shape the future of firewall services across a global enterprise by leading AI-driven automation initiatives that improve security operations, accelerate delivery, and enable business growth. You\'ll help transform how FortiGate and Palo Alto environments are managed at scale while building next-generation capabilities that reduce manual effort and improve operational performance.

As we continue to scale, this role will be the key driver in reducing manual work, dramatically improving delivery speed, and building intelligentai &automation capabilities.

Our Team

The Firewall Services team in Koch Technologies Infrastructure is responsible for enterprise Palo Alto (perimeter) and FortiGate (PCN/OT) firewalls across global Koch operations. We are a collaborative, high-performing team focused on automation, AI transformation, and supporting major business growth under Principle Based Management.

This role can be located in Wichita, KS / Atlanta, GA / Plano, TX, and requires an in office presence with flexibility.

This role is not eligible for VISA sponsorship.

What You Will Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and Terraform for FortiGate and Palo Alto firewall platforms (Panorama and FortiManager).
  • Lead implementation of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) tools for automated rule auditing, optimization, cleanup, and anomaly detection.
  • Create and manage reusable templates and workflows to accelerate large-scale firewall projects, including acquisitions and new site deployments.
  • Partner with the Firewall Tech Lead and regional teams to drive adoption of automation across Process Control Networks (PCN) and perimeter environments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that accelerate firewall service delivery, improve operational efficiency, and enhance the user experience.
  • Collaborate on building a scalable, AI-native firewall service that supports Koch Technologies\โ€™ long-term growth objectives.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Demonstrated experience in network security engineering with strong hands-on expertise in FortiGate and/or Palo Alto firewalls.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining automation scripts and applications (Python, Ansible, REST APIs, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience implementing automation and AI solutions in a security or firewall environment.
  • Strong understanding of firewall management platforms (Panorama, FortiManager).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial (PCN/OT) environments.
  • Knowledge of SD-WAN, ITAR compliance, or large-scale global deployments.
  • Prior experience with rule optimization tools (e.g., Tufin, FireMon, or similar).
