Senior Software EngineerOverview:
The Decision Management Program (DMP) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support the Authorization Decisioning product and help deliver highly scalable, secure, and reliable solutions across Mastercard's global payments network.
Authorization Decisioning combines the power of Mastercard's Decision Management Platform with real-time authorization data to enable intelligent decisioning at scale. The team is focused on building high-quality products that transform transaction intelligence into immediate operational action for customers around the world.
This role is primarily focused on Quality Engineering, with an approximate allocation of 70% Quality Engineering and Test Automation responsibilities and 30% software development responsibilities. The successful candidate will drive quality through automation-first practices while contributing to the design, development, and delivery of scalable backend services and platform capabilities.
Role:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will:
Design and implement automated test frameworks and reusable test suites.
Develop and execute functional, integration, API, regression, end-to-end, and performance tests.
Participate in requirements reviews, story grooming, and sprint planning activities.
Define and document test strategies, test plans, and acceptance criteria.
Collaborate with developers to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve defects.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.
Analyze test results and provide quality metrics and recommendations.
Ensure software meets business, security, scalability, and performance requirements.
Drive continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
Mentor junior engineers and promote quality engineering best practices.
Participate in release validation, deployment verification, and production readiness activities.
All About You:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
Strong software engineering experience with Java and modern application development practices.
Experience developing applications and services using Spring Boot and API-driven architectures.
Strong programming skills in Java, Python, C#, JavaScript, or similar languages.
Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Selenium, RestAssured, JUnit/TestNG and Cucumber/JBehave/Karate
Experience testing REST APIs and microservices.
Knowledge of Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
Experience using source control systems such as Git.
Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with cloud-native architectures and modern observability platforms.
Knowledge of secure coding practices and software quality metrics.
Experience mentoring engineers and influencing quality standards across teams.
Experience supporting highly available, mission-critical platforms within regulated environments.
