The team is divided into a number of key areas: including practice M&BD, clients and sectors, pitches and pursuits, which manage strategic global and regional pitches; corporate communications, which comprises public relations, brand, design, events, and digital; and campaigns and projects.
The firm is seeking a Marketing & Business Development Manager to lead the Technology sector. This individual will work closely with the global and local M&BD teams, along with the global Sector Head, leadership team, and key lawyers to develop and execute a comprehensive marketing and business development strategy that drives client engagement, strengthens market positioning, and supports the long-term growth of the sector and its closely aligned practices.
This is a hands-on role that will involve ensuring a coordinated, structured approach to marketing campaigns and profile raising, client development, pitching, and knowledge development across the global sector and relevant practice areas.
The successful candidate will have the ability to see the bigger picture and proactively connect the dots across the global sector, relevant practices and client initiatives. The ability to develop a deep understanding of the sector and to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment, and to collaborate and communicate well with partners, lawyers and colleagues alike in a manner that builds trust and confidence is also paramount.
JOB DESCRIPTION
LEADERSHIP
  • Collaborate with sector leadership, M&BD team, and others to design and execute a global strategy that aligns with firm objectives and strengthens market position in the Technology sector.
  • Act as the M&BD lead expert for the global Technology team.
  • Manage a global team, providing guidance, training, and professional development.

PITCHING, TARGETING & NEW BUSINESS GENERATION
  • Lead pitch strategy for the sector, aligning with the sales transformation plan and global pitch coordination.
  • Develop and manage responses to RFPs, pitches, and proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Create and maintain a suite of standard targeting materials, including credential documents and experience database.

MARKETING CAMPAIGNS, PROFILE RAISNG, AND THOUGHT LEADERSHIP
  • Plan, create, and manage the implementation of marketing communications, including seminars and client events, CLE trainings, client facing materials, external conference attendance, and web and social media content
  • Lead on directory and award submissions for relevant rankings and publications
  • Support input coordination for sector specific thought leadership publications
  • Collaborate with the PR team to implement profile-raising strategies for the sector and individual partners

EVENTS AND SPONSORSHIPS
  • Conceptualize and support client seminars, webinars, and other marketing events, managing materials, supporting vendor selection, developing client communications, and handling day-of logistics and follow-up reporting
  • Evaluate, coordinate, and execute sponsorships, as well as negotiate agreements and manage participation in sponsorships, to ensure that the firm maximizes return on its investment
  • Foster relationships with industry associations, leveraging sponsorships to drive client engagement
  • Work with the sector heads, and leadership team to plan internal meetings, retreats, and meetings that target education about the sector

BUSINESS & CLIENT DEVELOPMENT
  • Supporting the team on the portfolio of clients within the sector including, monitoring and analyzing client financial performance and internal review meetings
  • Conduct client feedback and support as client account manager for key clients

INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE SHARING
  • Support sector working groups efforts as M&BD lead and share best practices and processes across the global sector team
  • Maintain key M&BD resources including on the global intranet and hoganlovells.com, team lists, and master credentials documents
  • Support M&BD leadership to promote our capabilities across the firm, including through global retreats, internal newsletters, conference calls, meetings, and the intranet

WIDER M&BD PROJECTS
  • Contribute to broader M&BD projects and assignments, as appropriate.
  • Share best practices and processes across the global sector team.

REQUIRED SKILLS

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR EXPERIENCE
  • Seven (7)+ years of relevant experience required, preferably in the legal or professional services industry.
  • Knowledge of the technology sector is a plus.
  • One (1)+ year(s) of people management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Degree in marketing, communications or related field is preferred
  • Post-graduate qualifications (e.g. MBA) advantageous.

HOURS
Core hours are Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Must be flexible to work additional hours and travel occasionally. This position follows a hybrid schedule, with four days in the office and one day working remotely from home.
In Washington, D.C., the expected base salary range for this role is $136,000 to $199,000 per year.
In New York, the expected base salary range for this role is $145,000 - $213,000 per year.
In San Francisco, the expected base salary range for this role is $153,000 to $224,000 per year.
In Silicon Valley, the expected base salary range for this role is $154,000 to $226,000 per year.
This range reflects a good-faith estimate of pay at the time of posting; the actual compensation offered may vary depending on factors such as the candidate's qualifications. This position is eligible for additional forms of compensation, which may include annual discretionary bonuses. Employees in this role are also eligible for benefits offered by the firm, subject to applicable plan terms and conditions, which currently include medical, dental, and vision insurance; a 401(k)-retirement plan; and paid time off.
