Overview

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opportunity for a Section Manager Engineering at the Tilden Mine. This position will provide engineering and asset management support for all aspects of the Tilden operation.

Responsibilities
  • Manage site reliability engineering. Direct and coordinate preventative maintenance programs, predictive maintenance and conditionโ€‘based monitoring systems (oil analysis, vibration analysis, thermography, ultrasound, etc.), delay analysis/reporting, and performance of root cause failure analysis.
  • Manage site capital/infrastructure project engineering. Direct and coordinate project engineering and project management from initiation through engineering, construction and commissioning.
  • Direct and support site infrastructure inspection, repair activity, and restoration projects.
  • Manage site maintenance engineering. Provide engineering support for asset maintenance, asset restoration, and equipment improvement activities.
  • Assist with directing and coordinating the development of shortโ€‘ and longโ€‘range operating and maintenance plans, budgets, and performance targets for the site.
  • Assist with directing, coordinating, and prioritizing work requests from the site to achieve desired results in safety, quality, customer service, and cost.
  • Direct, coordinate, and motivate department personnel to achieve the desired performance results.
  • Assist with determining equipment needs and participate in the selection, purchase and integration of equipment.
  • Monitor key process indicators on a continuous basis to improve process efficiency, product quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Promote and encourage teamwork and highโ€‘performance standards throughout the section and oversee disciplinary action process when necessary.
  • Coordinate and participate in safety and loss control programs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • B.S. in Engineering, Metallurgy, or equivalent.
  • 10โ€“12 years supervisory/managerial experience in maintenance, operations and administration.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook.
  • Competent communication skills both oral & written.
  • Problemโ€solving skills.
  • Sound knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
  • Currently legally authorized to work in the United States on a fullโ€‘time basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 7โ€‘10 years supervisory/engineering experience.
  • Relocation assistance may be considered for highly qualified candidates from outside the local area.
