Performance Responsibilities
Both challenging and rewarding, the position of school secretary is crucial to the smooth running of any school. The school secretary will:
โ€ข Provide clerical and administrative support to the principal, vice principal and teaching staff as directed
โ€ข Act as liaison between the community, the school and other internal and external stakeholders
โ€ข Coordinate appropriate documents for communication
โ€ข Maintain all record keeping for students and staff
โ€ข Maintain student and staff confidentiality in all circumstances
โ€ข Track attendance and absences; use reporting software and generate reports for internal and external use
โ€ข Communicate effectively with a variety of district and community officials
โ€ข Use common computer hardware and software with proficiency and under pressure
โ€ข Manage multi-line phone systems and public address systems
โ€ข Perform school funds transactions and record keeping
โ€ข Perform data entry
โ€ข Perform general office duties such as answering telephone inquiries, filing, mail, spreadsheets, and journal entries on a daily basis
โ€ข Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
โ€ข Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
โ€ข Maintain the integrity of information systems, databases and office files
โ€ข Maintain records with a high degree of accuracy
โ€ข Work as part of a team
โ€ข Work with frequent interruptions
