Job description

Description The Modesto Irrigation District is currently recruiting to fill one full-time regular vacancy in the Electric Resources Division to perform a variety of responsible, confidential, administrative and secretarial duties. The Secretary oversees all secretarial functions for the Electric Resources Division. Any Qualified Individual May Apply.

This is a non-exempt position and is represented by the Modesto Irrigation District Employees Association. The list established as a result of this recruitment may be used to fill other Secretary vacancies that may occur within the District through July 8, 2027. Examples of Duties Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: Perform secretarial duties including, compose memoranda and correspondence Handle sensitive and confidential material Schedule and set up appointments and meetings, maintain calendars Prepare reports Set up and maintain files and records Receive visitors Answer the telephone and assist callers regarding division functions Interpret and communicate District procedures and regulations when necessary Prepare meeting agendas and take minutes Computing and inputting budget materials Prepare and assemble agenda and binders for Board meetings Operate a variety of office equipment including personal computers which use various software Order and maintain office supplies Other Related Duties Other duties as assigned Typical Qualifications Any combination of education, experience, knowledge and abilities may satisfy the necessary minimum qualifications.

A typical way to obtain the education, experience, knowledge and abilities would be: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible secretarial experience. Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge of District divisions and their functions; District policies and procedures; secretarial procedures, practices and techniques; business letter and report writing, including the use of proper English, spelling and punctuation; collecting and organizing data.

Ability to use a variety of office equipment; answer questions where judgment and interpretation is necessary; communicate effectively with all levels of management, employees and the public; use discretion and judgment and maintain confidentiality; work with minimal supervision; work cooperatively with others. Special Requirement: Must have a valid California Class C driver's license. Supplemental Information Qualified applicants must submit a completed District application to be received no later than 5:00 pm, Thursday, August 13, 2026.
