Job description

Job Summary:
MDAEdge is a company seeking a Cloud Engineer with an active DoD Secret Clearance. The role involves engineering, managing, and supporting cloud infrastructure products in Microsoft Azure and AWS environments, while ensuring the quality and security of cloud services throughout their lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
• Engineer, manage, and support cloud infrastructure products and stacks in Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) environments.
• Understand and apply cloud infrastructure concepts for compute, network, and storage components.
• Understand, manage, and optimize application workloads running in Azure and AWS.
• Partner with enterprise IT teams to integrate cloud infrastructure and network environments with corporate data center and on‐premises infrastructure.
• Use model‐based systems engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo (or equivalent) to understand and refine requirements, and create model designs using industry‐standard languages (for example, UML, SysML, AUTOSAR, DoDAF, MODAF, UPDM).
• Validate functionality early in the development lifecycle and automate the delivery of highly structured cloud services.
• Prototype, simulate, and execute designs for early validation and feedback.
• Design standardized and reusable cloud services that enable development and business teams to meet targets for speed, resilience, performance, repeatability, and security.
• Engineer, implement, and continuously improve the quality of these standardized cloud services.
• Provide approved templates, images, and reusable artifacts so customers can easily consume standardized cloud services.
• Ensure all services and enablement artifacts remain available, secure, and continuously improved throughout their lifecycle, and resolve any service issues affecting customers.
• Support and complete operational support requests, including communicating effort estimates and status updates to the cloud leadership team.
• Communicate clearly through diagrams, whiteboarding sessions, and presentations to senior leadership, using strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Qualifications:
Required:
• 12+ years of general full‐time work experience (may be reduced with an advanced degree).
• 6+ years of directly related experience in cloud and on‐premise infrastructure engineering and support.
• 1+ year of experience in a management or leadership role (team lead, technical lead, or similar).
• Strong hands‐on experience with infrastructure‐as‐a‐service (IaaS) platforms, including AWS, Azure, SoftLayer, OpenStack, or similar.
• Experience with platform‐as‐a‐service (PaaS) offerings.
• Experience with Cross Domain Solutions (CDS).
• Experience with configuration management and automation tools (examples include Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform, or similar).
• IASE Level II certification (must be current).
• Native or bilingual proficiency in English (spoken and written).
Preferred:
• Experience managing traditional enterprise platforms for compute, network, and storage.
• Familiarity with Mission Landing Zones (MLZ).
• Basic understanding of application development using GitHub or Bitbucket.
• Basic understanding of containers and container orchestration platforms such as Docker, rkt, Mesos, or Kubernetes.
• Experience managing traditional enterprise application runtimes, integration middleware, and relational databases.
• Experience with Cameo or other model‐based systems engineering (MBSE) tools.
