OVERVIEW

Perfetti Van Melle (makers of Mentos, Airheads, Dentyne, Trident and Bubblicious!) is one of the world's largest manufacturers and distributors of confectionery and chewing gum with global brands that are being enjoyed in more than 150 countries worldwide. We're currently seeking an enthusiastic Food Safety Supervisor, to join our growing team in Rockford, IL.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Food Safety Supervisor will serve as the second-in-command within our Quality Department. This individual will support the Quality Manager in overseeing the food safety and quality systems for our facility, ensuring full compliance with regulatory, customer, and internal standards. The Food Safety Supervisor plays a critical role in implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving programs that safeguard product integrity, with a primary focus on food safety systems and regulatory compliance. Manage programs, including but not limited to, food safety plans, CAPA, developing and executing local compliance policies.

  • Assist and lead Audits (FSSC, Non-GMO, and internal audits)
  • Develop and maintain food safety plans
  • Hosts bi-annual (twice a year) management review
  • Monitors and communicates compliance related losses to functional areas
  • Oversees cleaning/sanitation procedures regarding food safety
  • Owns consumer complaint program
  • Enhanced knowledge of policies, procedures and programs
  • Ensuring programs comply to regulatory and company requirements
  • Collaborates with continuous improvement activities related to food safety
  • Develop capabilities within the team
  • Assists in providing budgetary planning information
  • Supports change management
  • Review equipment to meet food safety and sanitary design requirements
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • Bachelor's degree required: preferably in food science, food safety or a related scientific field
  • 5+ years of experience of managing people and conducting/managing audits in food manufacturing
  • Knowledge of FDA and OSHA regulations, Food Safety Plans/Standards, CAPA, and GMPs
  • Knowledge of ISO9001, ISO22000, FSSC22000 requirements
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and group communication skills
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office apps, SAP, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Demonstrated strengths in team leadership, decision making, analytical and organizational skills
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to manage difficult and challenging situations
  • Experience in continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, IL6S)

The anticipated target range for this role is: $77,000-105,000 per year. Perfetti Van Melle considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary.
