Job Summary & Career Path

We are seeking a dedicated individual with prior experience in canvassing and leadership to join us as a Fundraising Field Director. This role begins with an intensive and accelerated training journey within the Grassroots Team training program, starting on the ground.

The Training Program

As a Field Director, in your training for the role, you will become an essential part of our team, acquiring core canvassing and training skills while working on our highest-priority, high-impact campaigns.

  • Duration: The training period ranges from 6-12 weeks.
  • Goal: Your primary objective will be to consistently surpass individual and team fundraising expectations.
  • Placement: Final placement into a Field Director role is contingent upon achieving exceptionally high performance and demonstrating integrity throughout your personal and professional development.

Key Responsibilities (Post-Training Focus)

Make a Difference on Issues:

  • Lead on the front lines of critical social change movements fighting for human rights and climate justice.
  • Contribute new ideas and test new methods for fundraising and mobilization.

Manage and Develop Staff (You will be learning to):

  • Train staff using Grassroots Team's program, leading by example in the office and field.
  • Develop the next generation of leaders to support and grow their team.
  • Train, develop, coach, and manage a team of high-performance, high-integrity canvassers, including new hires, experienced canvassers, Trainers, and Field Managers.
  • Collaborate with the Canvass Director to build a team of fundraising canvassers in line with organizational budget goals.
  • Cultivate a welcoming, inclusive, and campaign-focused atmosphere.
  • Work with the team in individual and group settings, focusing particularly on developing future leaders, and recommend promotions to the Canvass and Program Director.
  • Consistently communicate and maintain high performance and integrity standards.
  • Meet and exceed individual and team fundraising goals and expectations.
  • Field Directors serve as second-in-command to Canvass Directors in the office and organizational structure, reporting directly to the Canvass Director and/or Program Director.

Qualifications

Our Ideal Candidate possesses:

  • Preferably 1-3 years of fundraising/canvassing experience.
  • 1-3 years of team leadership or management experience is required.
  • Willingness and ability to commit to a 6-12+ week training period.
  • Dedication to meeting and exceeding fundraising objectives; must be a consistently high performer.
  • Excellent verbal communication, outgoing nature, and social skills.
  • A strong work ethic and passion for progressive causes.
  • Is a driven self-starter with a positive mindset, motivating teams and the office with ease.
  • Willingness and ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, walking and standing for 6+ hours per day in various terrain.
  • Goal-oriented, determined to succeed, and willing to take the necessary steps to build their office and the greater movement.
  • Experience leading diverse and inclusive teams of staff or volunteers is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

You will be placed on a progressive and expedited leadership track with a competitive compensation structure that reflects your dedication and performance:

  • Training Compensation: Compensation is provided at an hourly rate along with bonuses throughout the training period.
  • Advancement: You will start at the Canvasser base pay and rapidly advance to Trainer and Field Manager, receiving the corresponding compensation for those positions.
  • Canvasser Base Pay: $20.00
  • Trainer Base Pay: $21.00
  • Field Manager Base Pay: $23.00
  • Field Director Base Pay: $26.00
  • Performance-Based Bonuses: Exceptional performance is recognized and rewarded through bonuses based on individual and team performance, enhancing your total compensation.
  • Employment Status: All positions are classified as at-will employment.
  • Benefits: Medical coverage (after 90 days), paid time off (sick, vacation, and personal leave) after 30 days.
