Job description

Software Guidance & Assistance, Inc., (SGA), is searching for a Senior SEC Reporting Analyst for a Full Time assignment with one of our premier Utility clients.
Specific Responsibilities:
The Senior SEC Reporting Analyst will be responsible for performing complex financial, accounting and technical analysis. He/she performs accounting work of an advanced level requiring a comprehensive knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). He/she must be able to adjust quickly to changing priorities, have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to interface with senior management, work well independently as well as in a team environment, communicate clearly and concisely both verbally and in writing, detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and effectively manage critical deadlines. In addition, the individual must be able to perform various accounting functions as needed.
  • Assists in the preparation of documents for 10-Q, 10-K and Proxy filings.
  • Responsible for the administration, journal entries and reporting of all equity-based transactions, equity schedules, EPS calculations, and footnotes disclosures for SEC filings.
  • Research, analyze, and document technical accounting issues and operational applications, including areas of significant accounting estimates and judgement, new accounting pronouncements, significant transactions, and complex business arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with and review of the XBRL process, as well as GAAP and SEC disclosure requirements.
  • Support and prepare annual report for subsidiaries and support requests by external auditors.
  • Prepare disclosure checklists and ensure compliance with all GAAP and disclosure requirements.
  • Prepares, reconciles, reviews and analyzes financial records, statements, and reports as required.
  • Assist in the Company's SOX compliance efforts in connection with the financial reporting process.
  • Works with external auditors; prepares analytical, financial, and statistical reports and other analyses as required.
  • Ad hoc projects, analysis and reporting as required by management.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge and skill in the application of generally accepted accounting principles, external reporting requirements and compliance, stock compensation accounting, and complex accounting and financial issues.
  • Knowledge of accounting information systems and relational database query and reporting.
  • Ability to review, analyze and reconcile journals, ledgers and legal documents.
  • Organize work, set priorities and meet critical deadlines.
  • Utilize computer applications for accounting, word processing and spreadsheet software programs.
  • Proactive, organized and able to take ownership of projects and deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills.
Required Education and Experience
  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in accounting or a closely related field which has included a significant amount of accounting coursework.
  • Minimum of 5 years of recent accounting experience required, including at least 2 years of SEC reporting experience.
  • Big 4 experience preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Diversified experience with financial accounting systems, JDEdwards experience a plus, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and advanced experience in Workiva and equity management systems preferred.
