College Overview:
Ranken Technical College has been helping students experience success for over 100 years. Purpose of the Role: Prepares for and teaches Information Technology courses and conducts labs as assigned by the division chair of the Information Technology department.
Responsibilities:
  1. Teaches assigned theory and lab classes. Plans daily activities for students in theory and lab. Supervises students for both theory and technical project grades.
  2. Instructs and evaluates students in a live work setting who are performing general services and repairs on computers, to include instruction in shop safety.
  3. Maintains a safe worksite and enforces Ranken's safety standards.
  4. Teaching duties include various IT subjects and work ethic.
  5. Assists in the maintenance of computer lab and classroom equipment.
  6. Assists management with developing curriculum and syllabi, budgeting, scheduling, hiring, and other duties.
  7. Participates in college governance, committee work, student advising, etc.
  8. Participates in available training to keep current in Information Technology.
  9. Assists in maintaining requirements of industry standards.
  10. Performs other duties as assigned by authorized individual.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology from a regionally accredited institution and three years of experience in the information technology field preferred.
    • Technical faculty not possessing a bachelor's degree in the field shall meet ONE of the following criteria:
      • A bachelor's degree with the industry certifications to teach the identified technical courses.
        An associate degree in the field from a regionally accredited institution and five years of work experience in the related field.
      • A certificate in the field from a regionally accredited institution and seven years of work experience in the industry.
      • Ten years of work experience in the industry.
  • Community college or technical school teaching experience preferred but we will train.
  • Excellent presentation skills including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to teach and motivate students of diverse backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Server 2022 and CISCO products required.
  • Networking OSI model and subnetting fundamentals required.
  • Proficiency with PC hardware, Command Line, Windows OS, Linux required.
  • Familiarity with AWS, Azure, and/or GCloud preferred.
  • Preferred IT Certifications include: CCNA, Microsoft Certifications, A+, Sec+.
