Job description

Russell Feed & Supply

Store Manager

Fort Worth, TX

We operate under the simple idea that animals make better people, and we’re here to help make better animals.

Does promoting and supporting folks in your community with their agricultural endeavors, whether through an urban garden, backyard chicken coop, FFA project, or 1,000 head cattle ranch, excite you? Are you a self-starter, passionate, not afraid to get your hands dirty and always game to give 110%?

If this sounds like you, you might be a fit for the Russell Feed & Supply team.

Company:

Russell Feed & Supply is a locally-owned and operated feed store chain in the North Texas area. Russell Feed currently has 10 locations, a distribution center and offices, and a hay distribution center. Our stores offer a wide variety of products, including pet food & supplies, animal health products, horse tack & supplies, livestock feed & supplies, hay & shavings, propane, lawn & garden items, organics, and more.

Mission Statement:

To be a leader in retail agribusiness through aggressive merchandising, innovative products, superior customer service and ethical business practices while providing value to our customers, employees, community and ownership.

Position:

We are looking to grow our Management Team, including Store Managers. Store Managers, as well as corporate positions, report directly to the company’s Operations Manager.

Qualifications:
  • Must be ethical, honest & hardworking
  • Retail management experience preferred
  • Industry knowledge and experience preferred (livestock, pet, lawn & garden)
  • Wide variety of interpersonal skills- ability to inspire and motivate others, deescalate tense situations, and problem solve
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle challenging situations
  • Decision-making and delegation ability
  • Computer skills- point of sale system and cash register experience, Microsoft Excel skills a plus
  • Business acumen- understanding and knowing how to influence sales, margins, financial reports, inventory turns, labor-to-sales, etc.
  • Physically capable of staying on your feet all day, as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds on a regular basis in order to do carry outs and stock store
Responsibilities:

Although this list is nowhere near comprehensive, it provides an idea of the duties and tasks of a store manager.

  • Prioritize safety- Safety is our #1 priority at Russell Feed. It is the responsibility of the manager to ensure a safe atmosphere on a daily basis for all people who come in contact with the store. This includes but is not limited to daily patrolling the store for safety hazards, weekly safety briefings with staff, and immediately identifying and correcting anything that could be a risk
  • Effectively hire, train, manage and motivate a store staff
  • Open and close the store, as well as complete required daily paperwork, cash handling and bank deposits
  • Ensure EVERY customer receives superior customer service
  • Always possess a positive attitude—we believe the tone at a store starts from the top-down and that a manager is held accountable for the store’s atmosphere
  • Work well with other managers, stores and corporate staff
  • Conduct regular reviews of store staff
  • Inventory control and management—keeping store fully stocked, recognizing seasonal items, identifying slow-moving items as well as products the store needs
  • Maintain an appealing store appearance, especially cleanliness and fresh displays, endcaps and marquees
  • Fielding customer complaints and finding a resolution
  • Adhere to manager dress code and all company policies
Salary Range:

Russell Feed & Supply offers competitive pay, as well as a bonus program based on store performance.

Benefits:

Health, Dental, & Vision insurance, vacation and sick days, 401(k) match program, employee discounts, paid holidays. Benefits accrue over time.

Time Commitment:
