Job description

It's fun to work in a company where people truly BELIEVE in what they're doing!
We're committed to bringing passion and customer focus to the business.
Peter Millar was founded in 2001 with a single cashmere sweater offered in 24 colors. Based in Raleigh and Durham, North Carolina, the American lifestyle brand has grown to include luxury performance sportswear, seasonal resort and country club apparel, sophisticated classics, casually refined tailored clothing and sartorial accessories.
We strive to capture timeless style upgraded with signature innovations, in designs that are in tune with modern life. We embrace working hard, being kind and doing right by our customers, aiming to set a higher standard for the apparel industry.
The UX Designer designs thoughtful, user-centered ecommerce experiences for the Peter Millar and G/FORE US and UK websites. This role translates business goals and user needs into intuitive digital experiences. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem solver who is comfortable working independently while incorporating feedback, analytics, and research into design decisions.
This is a 5 month seasonal contract position located in Durham, NC.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with end-to-end UX design for assigned initiatives - from discovery to concepting through wireframes, prototypes and final designs
  • Partner closely with internal/external developers and other team members to ensure designs are implemented as intended
  • Contribute to and maintain UX design standards, patterns, and documentation to ensure consistency across experiences.
  • Ensure all internally designed UX projects meet website accessibility (WCAG) requirements
  • Participate in competitive analysis to find opportunities and make recommendations which increase revenue, optimize site usability, and increase sell-through rate
  • Take part in UX reviews, workshops, and critiques with cross-functional partners
  • Advocate for user-centered thinking while incorporating technical and business constraints

COMPETENCIES:
  • Balances multiple UX initiatives simultaneously, navigating speed, quality, and risk to deliver high impact design solutions
  • Brings a user focused, innovative, and solutions-oriented mindset, using creative and analytical problem solving along with scrappy resourcefulness to overcome challenges efficiently
  • Maintains clarity, patience, and objectivity while giving and receiving constructive feedback across teams and partner groups
  • Understands the value of brand integrity and effectively balances brand, user, and business considerations in decision making

DESIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years of UX design experience with a strong focus on website or digital platform design
  • Experience with Figma is required
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence is preferred
  • Experience designing responsive apparel ecommerce websites strongly preferred
  • A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Human-Computer Interaction, UX/Interactive Design, Graphic Design or related experience
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design
