Job Summary/Description:

Hawaii News Now, the state’s dominant multimedia organization, is seeking a results-driven sales professional for a Media Strategist role with a focus on successful partnerships surrounding the University of Hawaii Athletics sports programming. This position is responsible for organizing client deliverables, working with account executives on spot and digital advertising reporting, and maintaining meaningful partnerships with clients across K5 (Independent), KGMB (CBS), KHNL (NBC), and all Hawaii News Now properties.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, multi-platform environment, understands the value of sports audiences, and can contribute to integrated marketing solutions for local businesses aligned with UH sports.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

- Oversee deliverables of media sponsorships, spot advertising, and digital advertising tied to UH sports programming and related Hawaii News Now inventory.
- Assist account executives with conducting client success meetings that retain and grow UH sponsor partnerships.
- Deliver on custom sponsorship programs that may include on-air, digital, and promotional/branding elements (as available), and clearly communicate campaign value and execution.
- Maintain excellent client relationships through proactive communication, campaign follow-up, and performance recaps (as available).
- Assist in the creation of proposals, media plans, and presentations that align UH sports opportunities with advertiser objectives.
- Collaborate with internal partners (sales leadership, marketing, digital, production, traffic, creative) to ensure campaigns are built and executed correctly.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- 2+ years of B2B sales experience preferred; media sales and/or sports sponsorship sales strongly preferred.
- Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to understand multi-platform solutions (broadcast + digital) and explain campaign strategy clearly.
- Highly organized with strong follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office/Google Workspace; comfort using CRM tools.
- Familiarity with Hawaii’s business community and key categories (tourism, retail, auto, financial, healthcare, telecom, etc.).
- Understanding of sports calendar-driven selling and seasonal pacing.
