Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU/Oncology position requiring 2+ years of ICU experience, EPIC proficiency, and an active OH or compact RN license.

Details
  • Work in the Surgical ICU/Oncology unit of a hospital setting
  • Adult patient population with complex diagnoses including hemorrhagic and hypovolemic shock, sepsis, ARDS, craniotomy, and ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke
  • 13-week assignment on a night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-07:30)
  • May be scheduled for a rotating day/night contract based on departmental needs, with shift assignments reviewed every 4-week period
  • Performs specialized procedures including External Ventricular Drain management, ICP monitoring, Massive Transfusion Protocol, mechanical ventilation, CRRT, and vasopressor titration
  • EPIC EMR experience required
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Minimum 2 years of current ICU experience in the same specialty required, within the last 12 months
  • Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Skilled in arterial line management, central line care, blood product administration, ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and CVVHD/CRRT
  • Experience with continuous IV sedation, vasoactive drip titration, and management of dysrhythmias
  • 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted
Additional Information
  • Provide critical care nursing to surgical and oncology ICU patients with complex, multisystem conditions
  • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
  • Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
  • Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible to be hired as a traveler
  • RTO must be submitted and built into the contract prior to assignment, limited to 7 days or less
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting requirements promptly after signing the contract to avoid delays in start date
