Job description

Description

Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey is looking for energetic, fun, organized, and caring staff to provide memorable experiences to girls in a safe and engaging Summer Camp environment. Lake Rickabear Day Camp sits on 332 acres of land including a beautiful 40-acre, spring-fed lake, perfect for swimming, pedal boating, paddle boarding, and row boating. The fun is endless!


The Trading Post Manager will operate the camp store, including selling merchandise, maintaining accurate accounting, monitoring inventory, ordering snacks, and packing overnight care packages (if applicable). They will work with Camp Marketing Manager to feature items on social media and assist in the office as needed.

Immediate Supervisor: Director of Retail Operations


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Greet campers to the Trading Post with friendliness and enthusiasm
  • Operate the Trading Post (our Camp Store). Sell, maintain accurate account of funds, and maintain inventory
  • Restock items, receive orders, attach barcodes
  • Maintain visual displays in Trading Post
  • Keep in contact with Retail Director to reorder low inventory items.
  • Order ice cream, snacks, & drinks to restock weekly
  • Count and submit funds to Retail Director daily
  • Assist the Retail staff with Overnight Care packages
  • Work with Camp Marketing/Communications Manager to feature items on social media
  • Work with Camp Director & Business Manager to assist in office as needed
  • Promote high camper and staff morale
  • Perform other duties as requested
  • Schedule: Tuesday through Friday and the hours are 9 am to 3:30 pm

Requirements

  • Minimum age: 18 years of age and completed one year of college or similar work experience
  • Must be attentive and timely
  • Must be able to communicate well with other staff and community partners
  • Willingness and desire to work with children
  • Be organized and planned in approach and organize our camp store with eye to detail
  • Knowledge of the Girl Scout program.
  • Ability to make good judgment regarding health and safety procedures, and crisis situations.
  • Certification in standard First Aid and CPR preferred

Physical Requirements

  • Walking, standing, bending, stooping, reaching and ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds
  • Daily exposure to seasonal weather conditions
  • Must be able to work in a rustic camp environment with limited access to electricity, cell phone service and internet
