Job description

The SEASONAL EHSS Officer is responsible for protecting employees, property, and company assets by monitoring security systems, including CCTV, access control, and dispatch operations, as well as conducting physical patrols. This role responds to all safety and security-related calls, investigates incidents, and prepares detailed reports on findings. The officer collaborates with internal departments on safety and security events and works closely with Human Resources and Legal to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Major responsibilities of the position are listed below. To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to execute each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties, assignments and specific projects may be assigned at the discretion of executive management.
  • Responsible for conducting routine patrols across the campus, orchards, retail areas (Country Village), and other Harry & David facilities. Operates a patrol vehicle to monitor foot and vehicle traffic, enforce parking policies, and ensure the safety and security of all properties.
  • Surveillance Monitoring operating CCTV camera system.
  • Incident Response and Investigation - respond to and document safety and security incidents.
  • Report writing - documenting safety/security incidents, observations, and daily logs.
  • Respond to calls for assistance from departments throughout the company.
  • Investigate crimes against the company by gathering information from all appropriate resources.
  • Maintain situational awareness, focus, and responsive readiness in a dynamic environment.
  • Safety Inspections - inspect facility, equipment, and work place to ensure compliance
  • Emergency Preparedness - respond to alarms on and off campus, evacuation drills, first aid readiness and communicating with emergency services.
  • Coordinates with Emergency Services and Law Enforcement to ensure timely response and effective communication during incidents and routine operations.
  • Respond and provide medical assistance to all medical emergencies and administer First Aid/CPR.
  • Assist paramedics and/or in-house nurse when required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • A High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months-1year recent security experience.
  • A professional demeanor and excellent communication skills are required to effectively interact with all levels of company personnel and outside contacts. The ability to diplomatically resolve potentially disruptive situations is essential.
  • The ability to produce accurate, concise and detailed reports that can withstand review by the highest levels of company personnel and various legal authorities is essential.
  • The ability to prioritize responsibilities and maintain composure while dealing with frequent distractions is required. Multi-tasking is a must.
  • Department of Public Safety Standard Training (DPSST) certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to work a variable schedule with possible overtime.
  • A working knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office applications is required.
  • This position is security and safety sensitive. If offered the position, candidate will need to pass a drug screening, background check and driving record review.
  • Bilingual ability in Spanish and English is preferred, but not required.
  • Physical requirements include continuous walking (10-15 miles per shift), frequent running, frequent climbing, occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs), occasional bending and frequent driving
