At John Boner Neighborhood Centers, we work alongside our neighbors on Indianapolis’s Near Eastside to build a thriving and connected community. Through programs including financial coaching, career development, youth services, housing, and wellness initiatives, we support individuals and families in reaching their goals.

Position Overview

JBNC is seeking a Seasonal Groundskeeper to help maintain the appearance and safety of our housing and community properties across the Near Eastside. This role performs routine landscaping and outdoor maintenance to ensure our spaces remain clean, welcoming, and well cared for. The position works closely with the Housekeeping & Grounds team and travels regularly between JBNC properties.

What You’ll Do

  • Mow, edge, trim, weed, and maintain lawns and landscaping.
  • Care for flower beds, walkways, and outdoor common areas.
  • Operate landscaping equipment such as mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
  • Assist with seasonal tasks including leaf removal and debris cleanup.
  • Identify and report safety hazards or maintenance concerns.
  • Support outdoor cleanup and basic property upkeep.
  • Maintain tools and equipment and assist with occasional minor maintenance tasks.
  • Travel between JBNC properties and occasionally drive JBNC vehicles.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to safely operate lawn care equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical outdoor work.
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or on a team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous landscaping or groundskeeping experience.
  • Trailer towing experience.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • Seasonal, Non-Exempt Position
  • On-site with travel between JBNC properties
  • Primarily weekday hours with occasional weekend or weather-related work
