About the Role

Northpoint Asset Management is hiring a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician to perform residential maintenance and repairs across our Single-Family Rental (SFR) portfolio in the greater Kansas City, MO metropolitan area. This is a full time position designed to match workload needs while maintaining consistent service standards.

You’ll work independently to diagnose issues, complete work orders, and support unit turns, covering HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry. You’ll also coordinate with vendors when needed and maintain clear documentation so homes stay safe, functional, and rent-ready.

No on-call requirement currently: a major perk that supports strong work-life balance.

What You’ll Do

Residential Maintenance & Repairs

  • Perform maintenance and repairs across SFR homes, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, paint, appliances, doors/locks, and general carpentry
  • Diagnose issues quickly and complete work orders efficiently with minimal supervision
  • Handle HVAC service calls, basic troubleshooting, and seasonal maintenance (as qualified)
  • Perform plumbing repairs such as leaks, clogs, fixture replacements, and water heater-related work
  • Follow safety standards and Northpoint quality expectations on every job

Turns, Inspections & Punch Lists

  • Complete unit turns including inspections, repairs, and punch lists to prepare homes for new residents
  • Perform property assessments to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and recommended next steps
  • Help build repair scopes by documenting issues, photos, and materials needed
  • Ensure homes are safe, secure, and rent-ready

Communication, Vendors & Documentation

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, vendors, and internal team members
  • Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors/contractors when required to keep work moving
  • Maintain accurate work order notes, photos, and material usage to support cost-effective operations
  • Track progress and provide timely updates to supervisors and property managers

What You’ll Need

  • Residential maintenance experience in single-family, multifamily, or related environments
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver consistent quality
  • Strong communication skills and a service-oriented, professional approach
  • Reliable vehicle with active automobile insurance coverage, smartphone, and computer (required)
  • Light tools appropriate for residential maintenance tasks (required)
  • Valid driver’s license (required)

Preferred Certifications & Credentials

  • EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal strongly preferred)
  • HVAC certification or completion of a recognized trade school program
  • Plumbing license or documented residential plumbing experience
  • CPO certification is a plus
  • Experience supervising vendors/contractors preferred

(Hands-on requirements align with senior maintenance roles and may be required depending on assignment needs.)

Why You’ll Love Working With Us

  • Full time pay structure
  • Currently no on-call requirement
  • Autonomy in the field with strong leadership support
  • Opportunity to make a visible impact on home performance and resident satisfaction
  • Mileage reimbursement helps offset travel costs
  • Health Insurance
  • Flexible PTO policy
