Job description

Position Summary:

The Seasonal Pottery Quality Control Inspector inspect blanks and finished goods coming out of production to ensure product is produced and packaged efficiently and in compliance with the Company’s high-quality specifications and standards.  Record results and forward to production managers and supervisors.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)

80%     Inspect blanks (painted pottery without luster or decals) for quality defects and record pass/fail on KLR's (kiln load reports). Inspect pottery finished goods coming out of production and record pass/repairs/fail on KLR reports and related codes for reason of fail.  Move passed product to its proper destination: Blanks to the decal/luster department, Components to warehouse, stand-alone items get packed as directed by job tag, completed lop-level SKU's go up to dock for transportation to Auburn Distribution. Communicate with Product Manager on standards for pass/fail. Communicate to leads and production managers all quality issues.

10%     Record on Excel spreadsheet the daily results and forward to production managers and supervisors.

10%     Cross-train received goods inspectors to serve as backup when out on vacation and/or leave.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous quality control experience

Special Requirements:

Location: Aurora, NY

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Computer proficiency including word processing, data entry, spreadsheets, and generating reports using standard software applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and data files.
  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple projects and details simultaneously.

Equipment Used:

Computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, scanner, and calculator

Computer Software: Outlook, Word and Excel and Made2Manage

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, reach, push, pull, lift, use fingers, grasp, feel, and perform repetitive motions of hands or wrists.
  • Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects.
  • High mental and visual attention required for planning difficult work methods and sequences to obtain size, shape, or physical qualities of product.

Environmental Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical office environment where there is no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
