Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION
We are currently hiring seasonal garden center Merchandisers to join our team. Your job will be to care for and perform in-store set merchandising of our plants during the upcoming sales season, from April to July.
The timeline may vary according to your availability and desired work schedule. We are happy to coordinate with you to build a schedule that works for you. You will typically be scheduled to work/service 1-4 locations daily (less than an hour of driving) and must have reliable transportation. We operate every day of the week, with peak days being weekends and throughout the entire month of May. Availability on Mother's Day weekend and Memorial Day weekend are desired.
SCHEDULE
Daily schedules are flexible (usually starting around 7 AM) and lasts until plants are cared for and displays are in order, which will be highly variable. Some days will be 1-3 hours, some will be 8-10 hours. Peak hours will take place in May, while hours in April and July tend to be less. This position will start in April and run through July.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organizing plant displays
  • Identifying and removing product that no longer meets our quality standards
  • Stocking fresh product
  • Pushing/pulling of rolling carts
  • Assisting customer with questions on plants
  • Communicating with management via smartphone (required)
  • Soft skills required: Punctuality, dependability, and commitment

Training will be provided on standard procedures as well as plant quality and care. Experience in gardening is a plus!
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds, climb, sit, bend, stoop, step, push, balance, load and unload product, walk to/from delivery, and reach arms over head. Must be able to work in varying and sometimes extreme environmental conditions such as wet, humid weather and hot and cold temperatures.
