Job description

Job Title: Senior Linux System Administrator
Location: Raleigh, NC 27607 (Hybrid)
Duration: 5 Months Contract (with possible extension)
Interview Type: Either Webcam Interview or In Person

Description:
The client requires the assistance of Linux (RedHat) administrator(s) for the implementation and operational support of (Client) Applications on AWS/Hybrid cloud.
The primary role is to install and configure the Linux operating system as well as manage and maintain Linux-based systems on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform.
The position will be responsible for the deployment, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, and more. It will also be responsible for System maintenance by reviewing error logs, system backups, monitoring system performance to prevent slowdowns and disruptions, License deployments and setup, may include setting up a Linux Satellite server and deployment manager, and providing any needed technical support.
Strong knowledge of Linux administration, AWS, and networking are required for this role.
This position is required to be on call for evenings and weekends to meet business needs.
ยทManage, configure, and maintain Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) servers across development, staging, and production environments
ยทBuild New and Manage existing home-grown Linux scripts for ongoing Operations using shell scripting (Bash/Python)
ยทHandle User management, permissions, and accesscontrol (RBAC, sudo policies)
ยทManage patching, upgrades, and package installation based on Dev and Security team advice.
ยทImplement system hardening and least privilege security best practices
ยทManage and Upgrade Support for backup and recovery processes at the OS level
ยทCollaborate with Application Development and other Operation team members for deployment strategies and environment stability
ยทPerform system monitoring, performance tuning,and troubleshooting
ยทMaintain Documentation for system configurations and procedures
ยทWork experience on AWS Storage (FSx, EBS, EFS, S3)and Terraform is plus.
Must Have Required Skills:
Strong experience with Linux administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux: RHEL on AWS platform (3 years required)
Strong Experience with monitoring and troubleshooting Linux systems and applications (5 years required)
Hands-on experience in performance monitoring enablement to manage the Scaling up and down of the environments (3 years required)
Experience with Linux OS Patch (including taking snapshots of instances before applying updates) and OS Level Vulnerability Management (7 years required)
Strong experience with Cookie Security, Web Browser Security, Server side encryptions, Data Encryption at Rest and Key management (3 years required)
Strong experience with Image Management using Redhat Image (3 years required)
Experience with cloud infrastructure, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) like EC2, S3, RDS, ELB, SSM and EBS. (3 years required)
Experience in installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Bind, Apache, nginx, MYsql etc (5 years required)
Experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Cloudformation, Puppet, or Chef (5 years required)
Strong scripting skills, specifically in Bash or Python (7 years required)
Strong understanding of networking concepts, including VPCs, subnets, and routing (3 years required)
Proficient with network tools such as iptables, Linux IPVS, HAProxy, etc (3 years required)
Experience in capturing, interpreting, and analyzing network traffic (3 years required)
Solid knowledge of protocols such as DNS, HTTP, LDAP, SMTP and SNMP (2 years required)
Troubleshooting Apache issues like performance testing and tuning, failure to restart, and queuing of requests (3 years required)
Experience in performing multi-platform volume management using SVM, LVM, ZFS, NAS, and the VERITAS volume manager (5 years required)
Experience with security best practices and implementing security controls in a AWS cloud environment (3 years required)
Familiarity with wired and wireless networking hardware and architectures, Virtual LAN (VLAN) setup and configuration, VPN, Routing, IPV4, IPV6 (1 years required)
