Crane Mechanic / Field Service Technician
Long Island, NY
$60 to $75 per hour
Guaranteed 40 hours | Seasonal OT | Relocation considered
We’re hiring a Crane Mechanic / Field Service Technician to support a busy crane and rigging operation on Long Island.
This is a high impact role for a technician with real Liebherr all terrain crane experience. The company supports large scale crane rental, rigging, and heavy lift work across the Long Island and greater New York market, with all terrain crane capacity ranging from 50 to 500 tons.
This is not a basic maintenance role. We need someone who can diagnose, repair, and keep cranes running in the field. For the right Level 4 or Level 5 technician, there is also a clear path into a working manager role with the opportunity to help build out a formal PM program from the ground up.
What You’ll Do
Maintain, diagnose, and repair all terrain cranes in the field and yard
Work heavily on Liebherr all terrain cranes, including hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, carrier, and upper structure systems
Respond to breakdowns and support critical crane uptime
Perform inspections, service work, repairs, and preventative maintenance
Troubleshoot fault codes, sensors, wiring, pumps, valves, cylinders, and control related issues
Communicate clearly with operators, dispatch, operations, and management
Document repairs, parts needs, service findings, and follow up work
Help develop a stronger preventative maintenance process as the role grows
What We’re Looking For
Liebherr all terrain crane experience is the top requirement
Field service background with mobile cranes, all terrain cranes, or similar heavy equipment
Level 3 to Level 5 technician capability
Strong hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diagnostic skills
Ability to work independently and make sound repair decisions in the field
Experience supporting crane rental, rigging, construction, heavy lift, or industrial service environments
Comfort being on call for critical weekend breakdowns when needed
OEM training, CDL, NCCCO, crane inspection, or related certifications are a plus
Best Fit
The best fit is a crane mechanic who has already been trusted with complex field repairs and understands the urgency of keeping equipment ready for active jobs.
A Level 4 or Level 5 technician with strong Liebherr all terrain experience will be especially attractive, particularly someone who can grow into a working manager seat and help bring more structure to the maintenance program.
Compensation and Schedule
$60 to $75 per hour, based on experience
Guaranteed 40 hours per week
Seasonal overtime available
Monday through Friday schedule
Weekend on call for critical breakdowns
Relocation considered for the right Level 4 or Level 5 candidate
Why This Role Stands Out
You’ll be supporting serious crane work in one of the busiest lift markets in the country. The operation has established local roots, a strong regional customer base, and the backing of a larger crane and rigging platform built around proven local brands.
For the right technician, this is a chance to step into a key role, make a direct impact on fleet uptime, and grow beyond turning wrenches.
