Responsibilities

V2X has Software Engineering Intern opportunities for current college students pursuing STEM degrees focusing on software development in Indianapolis, IN.  As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work within a team of talented and experienced engineers and be exposed to Software Engineering by performing many core activities to include design, development or test of the software and system. Many assignments will involve integrating and testing with target hardware in a lab environment. The software intern will apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to solve customer needs by providing customized engineering services and products for unique customer missions. We have a hybrid work schedule, and employees are expected to be in the office Tu-Thu of the work week at a minimum.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Gain an understanding of typical software documentation and help prepare them
  • Learn commonly used software engineering tools and best practices (e.g. Git, ADO, scripting for testing, VSCode, etc.).
  • Providing basic support for software development in different software environments and target hardware (e.g. Linux, Android, RTOS, Windows)
  • Sharpen your Software Engineering knowledge
  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Contributing to the completion of project/program milestones under the general guidance of the immediate supervisor and team leaders and mentor
  • Learn and follow established Software Engineering processes and procedures

Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Positive attitude and proven leadership skills
  • Customer focus and ability to collaborate
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Software, Computer Engineering or related course work
  • Basic coding skills in one or more of the following: C/C++, Java, Python, Bash, etc.

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of MS Office or other presentation tools
  • Previous Engineering project and/or internship experience
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • A cumulative GPA of 3.0+ is strongly desired (Please upload an unofficial transcript when applying)

Security Clearance & Other Requirements:

  • Ability to access systems with information restricted to U.S. citizens per federal contract requirements is required
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) secret security clearance
