Job description

Job Title: Instrument Technician (Seasonal)
Job Location: Maryland Oral Surgery Associates, Bethesda, MD
Job Type: Part-time

We are looking for a diligent oral surgery Instrument Technician to support our oral surgeon before and after each dental procedure. Your responsibilities will include preparing surgical equipment and tending to patients. You will also be required to monitor inventory levels and replenish our dental supplies, as needed.
To be successful as an oral surgery assistant, you should be highly organized and attentive to patients' needs. An outstanding oral surgery assistant should have an excellent understanding of oral surgery procedures and exceptional hand-eye coordination.
Responsibilities:
Perform administrative tasks such as appointment scheduling, charting and filing.
  • Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment in accordance with infection control and biohazard protocols.
  • Assist the surgeon with operatory setup and cleanup.
  • Provide patients with information on oral health care, treatment plans, and postoperative outcomes.
  • Monitor stock of surgical supplies, medication, and replenish as needed.
  • Ensure that instruments and equipment are effectively maintained.
  • Provide excellent patient care.
Required Qualifications:
  • Highschool diploma or equivalent required.
  • Will accept and train those with little experience as a medical assistant or dental assistant
  • Sound knowledge of how to use surgical equipment, instruments, and materials.
  • Great organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to provide excellent patient care, even under stressful circumstances.
  • Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Dental Assisting experience preferred, not required
Schedule:
  • Monday - Friday, 5 hour shift
Special Requirements:
  • Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
  • Must be able to stand up to 80% of the time at minimum.
  • Physical requirements include standing for extended periods of time.
