Job description

AgVantage FS is headquartered in Waverly, Iowa with branches in Northern and Eastern Iowa. AgVantage FS has about 400 employees (including seasonal workers) and approximately 23,000 customers. The cooperative does business in agronomy, energy, precision agronomy, and agri-finance. AgVantage FS is part of the GROWMARK System, an agricultural cooperative serving more than 100,000 customers across North America and Ontario, Canada.

PURPOSE AND SUMMARY STATEMENT

Directs and coordinates activities of the Maquoketa & DeWitt location operational activities to obtain optimum use of equipment, personnel and facilities to encourage growth, customer satisfaction and regulatory compliance in a profitable manner. 

SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP

Supervises, leads and develops all assigned personnel by setting performance expectations, providing feedback and actively maintaining performance management standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Coordinates product ordering, inventory control and shipping/receiving of product.  Coordinates product delivery and application.

Coordinates plant operations to ensure efficient use of equipment, personnel and facilities, including directing the movement of custom application equipment, tractors and tendering equipment as needed.

Reviews operating costs, product quality, and modifies operation and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operations.

Coordinates staffing of assigned locations required to operate. 

Ensures all employees are trained to meet state, federal and company regulatory and safety criteria.

Coordinates plans to comply with state and federal requirements on environmental issues and D.O.T. regulations.

Coordinates implementation of preventative maintenance program for equipment and facilities, ensuring all are in good working order.

Approves requests for equipment, materials and supplies within limits authorized.

Coordinates administrative processing of inventory, shrink reconciliation and customer billing in a timely and efficient manner according to company policies and procedures.

Recommends capital expenditures for new equipment and facility upgrades to increase efficiency and services to management.

Assists in selling to customers.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Supports and contributes to total company goals and objectives through collaboration efforts.

Responsible for maintaining assigned vehicle to company standards, adheres to uniform policy and maintains the appropriate professional image.

Follows GROWMARK's Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply.

Performs all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Normally requires an Associate's Degree in agricultural or business discipline, or the equivalent thereof, and 3 years or more of supervisory related work experience to demonstrate knowledge to effectively manage the assigned facilities and personnel.

Understanding and experience with competitive adeptness, inventory management, customer credit worthiness, and product knowledge and proficiency, including fertilizers, ag chemicals, seed, soil needs, and field monitoring.

Must have and maintain a valid driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and have the ability to travel independently.

Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable certifications, licenses, and permits.

Ability to work extended hours and on-call as business conditions warrant

Prefer an understanding of GROWMARK agronomy and/or energy operations.

Occasionally exposed or required to:

  • Extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, wet, snow, ice, etc.)
  • Noisy conditions
  • Working conditions may include dust, fumes, chemicals, and electrical hazards with appropriate safety measures
  • May be required to work at varying heights
  • Lift 51 - 70 lbs.

Demonstrates essential abilities including business knowledge, collaboration, communication, customer focus, decision making and skill development.

Ability and willingness to participate in required training that may include education on GROWMARK's policies and procedures and additional training as it relates to the requirements of the position.
