This role will be located at one of Discovery Land Company's locations: The Hills, at 65 Lewis Rd, East Quogue, NY 11942.
The Hills is seeking seasonal Golf Course Maintenance Laborers/ Greenskeepers to join the Golf Course Agronomy Department. These positions will be full time from May 5, 2026 - December 1, 2026. These positions are eligible for H2B visa sponsorship.
Schedules/Work Hours: 40 hours per week. 5:00 AM - 8:00PM (Multiple different shifts offered throughout the day) Workdays: Sunday - Saturday.
In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operates mowers and string trimmers in trimming greens, aprons, tees, around trees, fence lines, banks and hillsides; also edges cart paths, rakes, and maintains sand bunkers.
  • Sets tee markers and cups on greens daily, maintains ball washers, replaces tee towels and flags when needed, removes debris, sands and seeds tee and drop area divots, and cleans flower beds.
  • Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment such as riding mowers, push mowers, weed eaters, leaf blowers, and golf carts daily, and reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.
  • Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility, and cleans the maintenance areas.
  • Under the direction of the Superintendent or Golf Course Maintenance Supervisor, marks the course for cart control weekly, moves cart control barriers and replaces worn or lost ropes and signs, and may mark hazard and drop areas.
  • Waters and fertilize tees, greens, and fairways, and under direct supervision of the Director of Agronomy and Superintendent, sprays chemicals on landscaped areas.
  • Grades and prepares soil base, lays sod, and seeds tees, greens and fairways.
  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of irrigation systems, including sprinkler heads and pipes.
  • May be asked to operate mowers, small utility vehicles for golf course use, such as the John Deere TX gator weighing approximately 600 lbs., or other light equipment.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • At least three (3) months of prior experience on a golf course maintenance or golf course construction crew.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license or international equivalent.
  • Must be able to operate trucks, golf carts, and lightly motorized equipment.
  • Must have knowledge of operating hand and power tools, and golf course maintenance equipment.
  • Must meet the physical demands of the position including lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling.
  • Background check will be performed at the expense of the employer.

  • Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Long hours may be required due to business demands.

  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.

Benefits

  • $21.91 - $24.50 USD per hour with overtime available at $32.86 per hour up to $36.75 per hour, based on hourly rate. Returning workers and workers with experience may be paid higher wage rates.
