Job description

Overview
The Lease Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient operation, monitoring, and maintenance of oil and gas wells, production facilities, processing units, and associated equipment. This role supports production optimization through routine inspections, process monitoring, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and environmental standards. The position requires expertise in oil, gas, and water separation systems, facility startup operations, work permitting, and troubleshooting production equipment in a field environment.
Responsibilities
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain wells, processing units, and production facilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety procedures and promote a safe working environment.
  • Conduct routine inspections of equipment, facilities, and work areas to verify proper operation.
  • Issue Safe Work Permits and perform gas testing for maintenance activities.
  • Monitor production processes, including tank gauging, meter readings, product sampling, differential pressures, and chemical injection rates.
  • Record and maintain accurate production and operational data.
  • Monitor critical operating parameters such as pressure, temperature, flow rates, levels, and vibration.
  • Adjust process conditions to optimize production and maintain product specifications.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues and identify equipment abnormalities, leaks, freezing, or overheating.
  • Perform basic maintenance activities, including lubrication, filter changes, valve adjustments, and equipment cleaning.
  • Inspect and maintain safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, breathing apparatus, and safety valves.
  • Coordinate oil sales and saltwater hauling activities.
  • Maintain company vehicles and field equipment in safe working condition.
  • Support facility startup, winterization, and seasonal operational readiness.
  • Utilize handheld monitoring devices and computerized systems to monitor field operations.
  • Follow environmental policies to minimize emissions, spills, and other environmental impacts.
  • Communicate operational updates and recommendations to supervisors and team members.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and ongoing skills development.

Qualifications
  • 2+ yrs. of Lease Operator experience required.
  • Valid US Driver's License with acceptable driving record required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in oil and gas production operations or a related field.
  • Knowledge of oil, gas, and water separation processes and production equipment.
  • Ability to operate, maintain, and repair surface production equipment.
  • Experience with work permitting systems, gas testing, and process safety practices.
  • Strong computer proficiency and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and respond to call-outs as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds and climb ladders and stairways.
  • Ability to wear and operate a Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) and other required safety equipment.
  • Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and operational excellence.
  • Must be able to meet all conditional job offer requirements including background, drug test, MVR, agility and fit for duty.
