At Ferraro Foods, our Yard Switchers play a critical role in maintaining the flow of trailers throughout our facility. From moving trailers safely in and out of dock doors to performing equipment inspections and supporting warehouse operations, this position helps ensure products are delivered efficiently and safely to our customers across the food industry.
We're looking for a Yard Switcher who values safety, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
What You'll Be Doing

• Safely move trailers in and out of dock doors and designated yard locations using a yard tractor
• Operate yard trucks and tractor-trailers in a safe and efficient manner
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections on tractors and trailers
• Hook and unhook trailers as needed throughout the shift
• Monitor refrigerated trailer temperatures and make adjustments as required
• Clean and sweep trailers when necessary
• Maintain accurate records and complete required documentation
• Support warehouse operations through the safe use of equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts
• Ensure vehicles remain clean, secure, and compliant with company and DOT requirements
• Help maintain a safe and organized yard environment

The Ingredients for Success

• Valid driver's license required; CDL Class A or B preferred, but not required
• One year of verifiable tractor-trailer experience preferred
• Ability to meet DOT requirements and successfully pass required physical and substance abuse screenings
• Strong commitment to safety and attention to detail
• Ability to read, write, and maintain accurate records
• Professional and courteous demeanor
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to repeatedly lift up to 60 lbs throughout the shift
• Frequent climbing in and out of tractors and trailers
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and perform physical work throughout the day
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and seasonal conditions
• Ability to work around moving equipment in a busy yard environment

The Details

• Schedule: Sunday through Thursday, 4:00 PM until finish
• Environment: Distribution center and truck yard environment
• Equipment: Yard tractors, trailers, pallet jacks, forklifts, and related equipment
• Pay: $25.50 per hour
