At Cross Creek Nursery & Landscaping, our Landscape Designers work directly with homeowners to develop thoughtful, plant focused outdoor spaces that bring their ideas to life. From foundation plantings and new landscape beds to drainage solutions and complete softscape designs, you will guide clients through the design process from the initial consultation through the final proposal.
This is an entry level opportunity for someone who is creative, motivated, comfortable working with customers, and excited to develop their skills in landscape design and sales.
What You'll Do

• Visit residential properties to evaluate sites and understand client needs
• Meet with clients to discuss goals, preferences, budgets, and project ideas
• Take accurate site measurements and document existing conditions
• Develop residential landscape designs and planting plans
• Create CAD and Dynascape drawings and visual presentations
• Select appropriate plant material based on site conditions, aesthetics, seasonal interest, and maintenance needs
• Prepare accurate estimates and design proposals
• Present landscape designs and recommendations directly to clients
• Revise designs based on client feedback
• Build strong customer relationships throughout the design and sales process
• Maintain clear and timely communication with customers
• Work collaboratively with our landscape installation, nursery, and maintenance teams
What We're Looking For
• Self motivated and driven individual who takes initiative
• Sales oriented mindset with an interest in client consultation and closing projects
• Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills
• Creative eye and passion for landscape design and plants
• Comfortable working directly with customers and presenting ideas
• Ability to learn and use landscape design, CAD, Dynascape, and measurement tools
• Basic knowledge of horticulture and regional plant material
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Previous sales, customer service, or client consultation experience is a plus
• Experience in horticulture, landscaping, nursery, or the green industry is preferred
Bonus Points If You Have
• Degree, certification, or formal training in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Environmental Design, or a related field
• Strong knowledge of regional plant material, including plant selection, growth habits, seasonal performance, and maintenance requirements
• Knowledge of hardscape integration, including patios, walkways, retaining walls, and outdoor living spaces
• Experience working in a nursery, garden center, landscape installation, or landscape maintenance environment
• Strong plant identification and plant health care knowledge
• Experience using CAD, Dynascape, or other landscape design software
• Experience presenting landscape concepts to clients and confidently explaining plant selections, layouts, and design recommendations
What We Offer
• Competitive pay
• Company generated leads, allowing you to focus on designing, estimating, consulting, and selling
• Opportunities for professional growth and advancement
• Flexible schedule and creative freedom, including half-day Fridays
• Supportive and collaborative team environment
• Health and dental insurance
• Paid time off and paid holidays
• 401(k) with company match
• Opportunity to work within a diverse, award winning company with full service landscape design, installation, maintenance, nursery, and growing operations
Build Your Career in Landscape Design
At Cross Creek Nursery & Landscaping, you will have the opportunity to grow your knowledge, develop your design and sales skills, work directly with clients, and be part of a team that has been serving the Richmond community for more than 50 years.
