Job description

Summary Statement

The Division of Legislative Services provides nonpartisan research, legal, and other legislative services to the General Assembly. The Division is seeking applicants for a casual/seasonal paralegal position in the Registrar of Regulations Office. As a paralegal in this office, you will be responsible for validating the accuracy and compliance of regulations submitted to the Office. Duties include review of submissions, communications regarding submissions and general questions, and review and proofing of publications.\r\n

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Establishes and maintains case files.\r\n Reviews legal/court documents for completeness and accuracy.\r\n Compiles and evaluates facts to complete program, legal, and/or court documents. \r\n Provides administrative reports and recommendations for new/revised operating policies/procedures.\r\n Reviews state and federal codes, laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance of legal actions/processes. \r\n\r\n

Job Requirement Series

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Paralegal I\r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n Six months experience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files. \r\n Six months experience in data collection which includes collecting, compiling and maintaining data from multiple sources such as files, records, databases, customers, staffor others. \r\n Six months experience in analyzing and evaluating data. \r\n Knowledge oflegal terminology. \r\n\r\nJOB REQUIREMENTS for Paralegal II \r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas:\r\n\r\n One yearexperience in preparing and maintaining legal documents and case files.\r\n One year experience in legal research such as researching statutes, regulations, case law and background information.\r\n One year experience inanalyzing and evaluating data. \r\n One year experience in interpreting laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures. \r\n Knowledge of interviewing using structured or unstructured interview techniques to obtain facts, explore issues and identify courses of action. \r\n\r\n
