Job description

Major League Baseball seeks an Game Operator, Broadcasting, to produce augmented reality enhancements for live MLB telecasts. Operators will utilize proprietary software to generate visual enhancements that will be used both pre- game and in-game. This role will train and work within efficient workflows and be expected to have a high sense ofdetail focused on ensuring the product is delivered to broadcasts seamlessly. This position ensures high-quality broadcasts, working within a well-trained team, and using our system that provides continual improvements to meet the MLB Broadcasting team's strategic priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Review and learn process and procedure documentation
  • Set up graphic rendering software for assigned games
  • Generate assigned content and coordinate video feed and/or file delivery to the Broadcast
  • Receive requests from producers/directors in-game
  • Check for accuracy of data and stats on all graphics
  • Maintain accurate logs of all elements that air across broadcasts
  • Monitor and QC multiple live baseball games for in-game highlights
  • Provide detailed information on errors, bugs or on-air or software issues in order to further improve the system
  • Communicate with remote production teams including Producer, Director, Engineer, Venue Techs
  • Serve as primary point of contact for Technical Services staff and Venue Techs, escalating in-game issues, as needed
  • Communicate with broadcasters and on-site personnel prior to games to ensure everything is functioning properly
  • Ensure correct feeds are available for both ingest and distribution of all products
  • Collaborate with the Director of Production to optimize workflows for Pitchcast operations
  • Partner with management on creative enhancements and process improvements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in broadcasting, production, or a related field
  • Must have very strong computer skills
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of baseball preferred
  • Understanding of television production, ideally within sports broadcasting
  • Some experience in a live production/broadcast environment (Scorebug, Duet, Viz, EVS, Dreamcatcher, etc)
  • Basic understanding of audio/video signal flow
  • Familiarity with advanced broadcast production tools, including graphics and augmented reality systems
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across production teams and broadcast crews
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, multi-tasking skills and a strong attention to detail
  • Strong knowledge of baseball, including an understanding of both common baseball stats as well as Statcast metrics
  • Must be willing to work nights/weekends/holidays

Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour
