Job description

The Manager, Corporate Accounting and Consolidation for Global Industrial, oversees the accounting for corporate expenses, assets, and liabilities and owns the global consolidation process. The position partners closely with HR/Benefits, Risk Management, Legal, FP&A, Finance leadership, SEC Reporting, Tax, subsidiaries, Internal Audit, and external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with U.S. GAAP. This role plays a critical leadership position in safeguarding accounting integrity while supporting strategic business initiatives.

Responsibilities

Corporate Accounting

  • Oversee month-end close for HR/Benefits, Risk Management, Legal, and Treasury functions, including accruals and reserve adjustments.
  • Supervise accounting for share-based compensation and dividends.
  • Supervise intercompany process and intercompany allocations.
  • Advise FP&A on forecast and budget for HR/Benefits, Risk Management, Legal, and Treasury functions.

Consolidation

  • Provide strategic leadership and full ownership of the monthly global consolidation process, ensuring accurate and timely elimination of intercompany transactions and full compliance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Manage close calendar, coordinating with subsidiaries for month-end ledger load as needed, with IT for ledger load, translation, and other system processes, and with Finance leadership, SEC Reporting, Tax, and FP&A for reporting.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized best practices, leveraging technology to streamline consolidation activities and enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Partner with Tax and IT to implement new legal structure changes and integrate acquisitions in the month-end close and consolidation process.
  • Manage chart of accounts in conjunction with IT.
  • Conduct detailed variance analysis to detect and interpret unusual or significant fluctuations in account balances, providing actionable insights to Finance leadership.
  • Champion the identification, investigation, and resolution of complex consolidation discrepancies by collaborating cross-functionally with subsidiaries, business units, and key stakeholders.
  • Lead and enforce SOX compliance controls related to consolidation processes, ensuring robust internal controls and audit readiness
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting processes as needed.
  • Serve as key liaison with internal and external auditors on consolidation.

Cross-Functional Leadership & Special Projects

  • Lead or support enterprise-wide finance initiatives and special projects.
  • Other responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting required
  • Active CPA (or equivalent certification) required
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Solid understanding of financial statements and accounting principles
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (financial modelling, pivot tables, formulas)
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to anticipate accounting implications of business decisions
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborative leader who drives cross-functional alignment
  • Audit experience
  • Experience with Oracle PeopleSoft

Physical Demands / Working Environment

  • On-site presence required four (4) days per week; one (1) remote day permitted based on business needs
  • Minimal travel (less than 5%); occasional extended hours during peak periods (e.g., month-end or year-end close).
