Ready to dive into epic outdoor adventures and make a positive impact on the environment? Look no further than the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) - the oldest conservation, education, and recreation organization in the USA!  Our passion for the outdoors knows no bounds, and we want YOU to be a part of it. As an employee, you'll unlock access to exciting programs, policies, and procedures that empower you to make a real difference. Join the AMC team now and embark on the journey of a lifetime!

This active, frontline leadership position supervises the dining room crew and ensures efficient, friendly, and professional food and beverage service for Highland Center guests and visitors. The Dining Room Shift Leader trains and directs staff, supports daily dining room and Greenery operations, maintains high standards of cleanliness and service, oversees inventory and beverage program support, and helps develop operational procedures that promote consistency and excellence. The role also partners with Food & Beverage Manager to ensure successful execution of special events, group functions, and guest experiences across Highland Center operations.

What you’ll be doing at AMC

  • Lead front-of-house dining operations, serving as a team leader and role model while supporting both morning and evening service shifts.
  • Deliver exceptional guest service by welcoming visitors, responding professionally to requests, and ensuring a positive dining experience.
  • Train, mentor, and provide ongoing support and feedback to dining room staff to maintain high service standards.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and sanitation throughout all dining and beverage service areas while ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Assist in the development, pricing, ordering, and implementation of seasonal beer, wine, and beverage menus.
  • Manage beverage and dining ware inventories, including weekly beverage counts, monthly dining ware inventories, and related ordering needs.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee cleaning schedules, task sheets, and operational procedures to ensure consistency and accountability among staff.
  • Support special events, coffee breaks, social hours, and other food and beverage functions through planning, setup, service, and breakdown activities.

What we’re looking for at AMC

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to keep calm in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • A minimum of 2 years of dining room, server or restaurant experience.
  • Experience leading teams and providing feedback in professional settings.
  • Familiarity with the White Mountain National Forest & the AMC preferred; passion for the outdoors is a plus!
  • Ability to work on a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, mornings, evenings, and varied hours based on the season.
  • Ability to lift 50lbs and be on your feet for 8-hour shifts.
