Description:

The Seafood Buyer is responsible for purchasing, inventory control, and merchandising of all fresh and frozen seafood products at Plum Market. This role ensures that the seafood cases and displays are fully stocked, visually appealing, and reflect our standards for freshness, sustainability, and quality. The Seafood Buyer plays a critical role in maintaining stock integrity, achieving margin goals, controlling shrink, and supporting an exceptional Customer experience. This position collaborates closely with the Meat & Seafood Team Leader and department leadership to execute seasonal programs and product strategies.

You model and provide exceptional Customer Service.

You have strong knowledge and passion for fresh and frozen seafood, including sourcing, handling, and sustainability.

You are organized, analytical, and capable of managing product flow in a high-volume retail setting.

You take pride in freshness, cleanliness, and delivering a premium Guest experience.

You are a clear communicator and enjoy being part of a fast-paced, service-driven team.

What you will bring:

6+ months experience in seafood retail, buying, or procurement preferred.

In-depth knowledge of seafood species, seasonality, sourcing standards, and storage requirements.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and comfort with order/inventory management systems.

Strong communication and time-management skills.

Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Ability to stand and walk for up to 4 hours without a break – we work on the floor and alongside our team.

Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects, climb ladders, lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted, and push/pull carts weighing up to 100 lbs. unassisted.

What you will do:

Purchase and maintain fresh and frozen seafood inventory to ensure consistent availability and product rotation.

Monitor sales performance and adjust orders to support margin goals, inventory turnover, and shrink control.

Maintain accurate pricing and signage throughout the seafood department.

Ensure seafood is stored, labeled, and displayed according to food safety and regulatory standards.

Collaborate with vendors to secure high-quality, sustainable products and manage timely deliveries.

Communicate new products and seasonal items to department team members and leadership.

Assist with merchandising sets, case resets, and seasonal transitions.

Support the department with receiving, processing, and stocking seafood as needed.

Uphold Plum Market’s standards for safety, sanitation, and Guest engagement.
