To thrive as an SD-WAN Engineer, you need a deep understanding of networking concepts, routing protocols, and SD-WAN architectures, often supported by a degree in Computer Science or similar fields. Familiarity with SD-WAN platforms (such as Cisco Viptela, VMware Velocloud, or Silver Peak), network monitoring tools, and certifications like CCNP or vendor-specific SD-WAN certifications is highly valuable. Strong problem-solving abilities, teamwork, and effective communication set standout candidates apart. These skills are essential for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust, scalable network solutions that meet organizational needs.

Is SDWAN still used?

SD-WAN is still widely used in networking and IT environments to improve network performance, security, and management of wide-area networks. Many organizations adopt SD-WAN solutions for cloud connectivity and remote site integration, and professionals with skills in network virtualization and security are in demand.
