Location: Denver, CO (primarily remote; must reside in Colorado and be able to attend periodic in-person meetings in Denver)
Salary range: $100,000 - $125,000 per year
Job Summary: The Scrum Master is responsible for facilitating Agile delivery for one or more cross-functional software development teams. This role organizes and leads Scrum ceremonies, coaches the team on Agile principles and practices, removes impediments, and promotes transparency through effective use of Jira and Agile metrics. The Scrum Master partners closely with Product, Development, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to help the team deliver high-quality, releasable increments on predictable cadence and support successful software releases.
Essential Functions:
Facilitate Agile Delivery
  • Organize and facilitate core Scrum ceremonies:
    • Daily stand-ups
    • Sprint planning
    • Backlog refinement
    • Sprint reviews
    • Retrospectives
  • Partner closely with Product Owners to ensure the product backlog is well-groomed, prioritized, and clearly defined.
  • Promote transparency of team progress and performance using Agile metrics (e.g., burndown charts, velocity, sprint reports)
  • Coach the team in Agile values, principles, and practices (Scrum, Kanban as applicable) and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Proactively identify, track, and remove impediments that block or slow the team's delivery.
  • Support the team in achieving predictable delivery, sustainable pace, and high-quality outcomes.

Support Release Planning & Execution (as part of Scrum delivery)
  • Work with Product, Development, QA, DevOps, and other stakeholders to align sprint goals with broader release goals and timelines.
  • Help the team identify and manage dependencies and risks that may affect delivery or release readiness.
  • Facilitate readiness discussions within the team (e.g., Definition of Done, acceptance criteria, test coverage) to ensure work is releasable.
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to communicate sprint progress and overall readiness for deployment.
  • Participate in post-release reviews or lessons-learned sessions to drive continuous improvement in delivery practices.

Jira, Confluence & Reporting
  • Maintain and administer team-level Jira boards, workflows, and dashboards so they accurately reflect current work and status.
  • Use Jira and related Agile reports to track team progress, identify bottlenecks, and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Maintain relevant Confluence pages documenting team processes, working agreements, and key artifacts.
  • Provide basic support and guidance to team members on Jira and Confluence usage and Agile best practices.

Cross-Team Collaboration
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration within the Scrum team and with cross-functional partners (Development, Product, QA, DevOps, Client Success, and others).
  • Act as a primary point of contact for communicating team status, risks, and dependencies to stakeholders.
  • Ensure that risks, issues, and cross-team dependencies are surfaced early, tracked visibly, and driven to resolution.
  • Promote alignment between the Scrum team's work and broader product and organizational priorities.

The responsibilities listed above are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, and skills required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master in a software development environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile frameworks (primarily Scrum; Kanban experience a plus) and hands-on experience applying them with real teams.
  • Demonstrated experience using Jira and Confluence to manage Agile work and provide visibility to stakeholders.
  • Experience working in SaaS and cloud-based software environments is a plus.
  • Experience in financial services; mortgage or warehouse lending is a plus.
  • Scrum Master certification (e.g., CSM, PSM) strongly preferred.
  • Additional Agile or scaled-Agile certifications (e.g., A-CSM, SAFe, ICP-ACC) are a plus.

Skills & Tools
  • Excellent facilitation, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to serve as a neutral and trusted servant leader.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to present information clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in driving follow-through and accountability.
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working in a fast-paced, evolving startup environment.
  • Ability to build trust, foster psychological safety, and support high-performing, self-organized teams.
